**XBOX ONE** Official Thread

You guys can laugh all you want but the eyes are very sensitive and are a gateway to many other problems.

Just take 3d for example, it disorients most people when used first, most get used to it after a while. Though some never to and it can leave users feeling sick, itchy eyes, migraines etc. This is well documented.

After viewing crisp 1080p for years and years my eyes have been accustomed to that 1080p crispness. 720p fuzziness makes my eyes attempt to refocus and ajust but fails to do so as the source is blurred not my eyes focus. It's a continuos cycle of my eyes focussing, zoning out and refocusing etc which leads to repetitive eye strain injury, feeling sick, migraines and burst blood vessels from the eyes working to hard.

If I continue to use 720p for weeks on end my brain and eyes would get used to the fuzzier/blurred picture and of course this would stop. But I play 90% of my games at 1080p so don't want to have to switch back and forth. Hence why points about last gen are null since I was used to the lower res.
I'd advise staying out of this thread then, as it's an Xbox One thread it's probably only rendered in 720p :p

All in seriousness though, get yourself to a doctor, as your "condition" is not normal.

If I leave this thread whose going to warn of potential dangers of 720p to potential customers. I should be hailed as a hero fighting to protect fellow gamers, not ridiculed :D

Any word on stock levels around launch? I ordered one probably about 6 weeks ago, on Amazon, and it said expected delivery in and around end of Dec. HOWEVER, my kid just said he wants one for Christmas. ugh... So hoping that there's been some sort of annoucment that orders will be met before xmas? Unlikely though eh.

ShopTo are guaranteeing PS4 for Xmas so id assume the same with Xbone

lol dangers of 720p :D :D Has to be one of the funniest things I have heard for quite some time ! Take it you don't own a mobile phone or a tablet or any other console other than the PS3 with a very very select few that run at native 1080p and not simply upscaled from 720p

I know I'm just feeding but its actually hilariously funny.

Oh my god, if only I didn't actually want to use this thread to discuss the Xbox One these trolls would be hilarious. It's like they're trying to outdo each other on the quest to most closely resemble an Alsatian after a head-swap operation with a banana.

It's only going to get worse. A few months back it seemed like the trolling was at a minimum but it seems to be gaining momentum now as the release date(s) edge closer, and no surprises it's the same few names appearing next to such posts over and over again.

I'm guaranteed my PS4 this Fri 15th.. :D

But Amazon said all along, when i placed my order, that i was guaranteed. The XBOXOne didn't say that, leading me to believe that there may be shortages in manufacturing. Could be wrong too. Maybe the extra $100 is causing people to not pre-order and there will be some avail. Who knows. It's all being kept hush hush by the seem of things.

There are no dangers with 720p, unless you're in a minority (of one) who suffers eye pain as a result.

 I suffer eye pain from playing long sessions, especially GTA for some reasson.*

The other day I was thinking that resolution on its own is a pointless number. Without knowing any of the graphical settings we don't have a full picture (excuse the pun) of the graphics. PC gamers regularly compromise on LOD or some AA etc. for a better framerate and I presume a similar thing has happened with the consoles in that some devs have chosen to run 720p with better settings than 1080p and lower settings. For some reason though it seems to be the be all and end all for some.

With completely made up figures here, has any tests been done on resolution? In that which looks better, native 1080p with 4AA or 720p with 16AA upscaled to 1080p. Bit of a pointless question when we don't know the numbers for the consoles but made me wonder.

* I actually know why I do so no need to worry :p

I suggest you drink more water and go to the opticians. Also how do you watch TV, virtually no HD broadcast is 1080p, they are mostly 720p or 1080i upscaled by your box or tv...

so......looking forward to my new xbox next friday. Was gonna get a ps4 too but there isn't a single J-rpg coming out even on the distant horizon and that's really all I care for.........that and racing simulators so Forza 5 for me.

Same here bernie, Forza it is! I got an e-mail from Microsoft's store saying the card I used had expired but when I called up the lady said it's a generic e-mail just to ensure that payment details are up to date and that you have the money available on your account for when they take payment. I do hope I get it on the 22nd though, really don't wanna have to wait until Monday!

+1 for Red Dwarf reference.

I've chose the PS4 for my requirements but honestly the XBox One still looks like a good bit of kit. My initial intention was to pick one up in a few years but chances are i'll nab one sooner. It'll depend on whether there are many good 2 player online games my wife wants to play - in which case I'd likely get a 2nd PS4 but she isn't that into games in general so think I'd prefer the Xbox as a 2nd console. I cna always swap Xbox for mates PS4 temporarily on the odd occasion me and the wife want to play a 2 player game.
