Xbox One X

They are pretty good in my experience, had to cancel a couple of things personally. Most recent was a custom controller from the design lab, it was within an hour of ordering but they could have said no.

I am looking forward to getting back to MS with the Xbox X as I had a 360 and a One only moved to PS4 Pro to get the 4k even though it not true 4K like the new Xbox X going to be.. But I am still undecided wether to trade in my Pro as really I never played any of PS exclusive till now they are good but will I miss new version I dont know since I was a Xbox user for many years..

THE new dashboard is supposedly coming within the next few days. The Windows 10Fall Creators Update is out tomorrow and is all linked with that.

At last we can bulk transfer games from the internal drive to an external one, going to making swapping over to the X so much easier :)

Cheers all

I wonder if it's worth putting games on external ssd. The new internal hdd on the one x is meant to be faster but I'm still tempted, no doubt digital foundry will have there comparison's out not long after release

I use a SSHD hybrid drive on my Xbox 2TB 3.5" on a USB3 enclosure, the reason i went for a 3.5" over a 2.5" is that it spins faster 7200rpm over 5400rpm, yes it needs external power but i never move it anyway.
It makes a significant difference joining most games and games with a lot of reloading are much more enjoyable, (just Cause 3 challenges were what amde me splash the cash cause they were soooo annoying to watch reload every time you missed a ring).

Would I have liked a SSD? yes but looking at the benchmarks the speed difference was marginal and as I play more than 1 or 2 games at once I would have needed at least a 1tb SSD.

The impact?
On destiny 2 I typically arrive on planet 5-6 seconds before the rest of my fire team, now some of that is network related.
Forza 7 based on chats over xbox live while join races im loading in much quicker, (though if im on PC its even faster on a SSD obviously) maybe 20 seconds plus.
The Division i would be in ages before them, BF1 loads in faster but then you have to sit and wait for everyone else before the match starts.
Stuff loading in tectures on the fly, open world games seems less poppy if you know what i mean, but thats subjective.

I would recommend it if you can get away with 500gb maybe go for a SSD if not them SSHD is the way to go.

With the new Bulk transfer stuff in the UI it is easier to transfer stuff off and on, I was considering a SSD and offline 5tb HD for backup but decided that wasn't practical as I would end up copying a game back on and then having a huge update to install.

I had a 1TB SSD in an external caddy for a while, makes a huge difference... couple of games I was playing around that time.

Destiny, I was of on my sparrow before anyone else was anywhere near loaded.
Neverwinter, the main city was a lagfest, totally smooth with the SSD.

I'm using that SSD in a laptop now and have a 5TB desktop external for my games.

If you have a spare that is over 256gb then grab a caddy and go SSD, you will get 2 maybe 3 games on it based on how big Forza 7 and Shadow of war are on PC with all the 4k assets. I couldn't justify a 1TB drive, my main desktop doesn't have that much SSD space.
1TB is what around £350-400 that's a lot of cash. If i had it to blow i would but i didn't and SSHD is a good compromise.

unfortunately it only has 3 usb3 slots and that means with the kinict and my wheel i only have 1 for a drive

I thought kinict was dead!?

I use it for Skype calls and party chat got the adaptor when they were on cheap a month or 2 back only cost £20.
Main thing is using it for chat when im on driving games, the wheel doesnt have a mic port and if you use a pad it turns its self off cause your not using it.
Shame they never released a wireless chat mic like the old 360 ones, they were so comfortable and worked great.
