Xbox One X

Interesting.

Are you a pro user now? If so would you say the upgrade not worth it?

I have a PS4 Pro and the Xbox One X on pre-order.

Based on what was shown at the show the X is certainly no upgrade to the PS4 Pro, honestly is was really poor and for an MS Rep at the show to admit they should not be showing it says it all.. yes it may and probably will get better but you could say that about anything.

I'm keeping my pre-order as I usually buy all consoles and my Xbox One has been on its last legs for ages. One of my mates I went with cancelled his pre-order based on what was shown at the show.

I'm not sure what people are expecting? It's a PS4 pro with higher detail textures (extra ram) and bit faster?

Thats a decent jump for xbox.

this video shows everything you need to know, xbox x running better settings (High+ PC settings)

for a console costing £450 including UHD drive, seems a great deal to me

Interesting about Assassin's Creed Origins. If it runs a bit cack on X1X then what it's going to be like on PS4 Pro?

It's a reasonably safe to assume anything the xbox one can do in 1080P the X1X should do more or less in 4K.

Racing games are not particularity demanding if 60 fps is capped by screen, hardware or software. So Forza isn't a great test.

Did they say it was a hardware issue as it sounds reasonable to assume the game isn't finished?

I had a chance to play the Xbox One X at EGX yesterday and it was extremely disappointing.

In the case of Assassins creed the MS Rep said beforehand that it boasted amazing 4K graphics, ultra smooth graphics that was not even using the full power of the system and an incredible amount of detail (advising to use the bird to show that off).

In reality it was pathetic, tearing, slowdown, popup and textures (poor textures) that filled in when you were almost on top of the object. We asked another rep from their tech dept about the poor performance and the fact that it was so poor in general and he basically agreed and said there was nothing they could do about it as they have to work with what they have.

So it's very well for MS to say the the Xbox One X can do this and that but when they are unable to demo anything that proves it then what is the point. Forza actually ran OK but was nothing amazing, certainly no better and probably a little less detailed than GT Sport on the PS4 Pro.

So basically very disappointing from MS who had nothing to show really.

I don’t believe you. Sounds like hyperbole.

Sorry.

Everything Digital Foundry has shown of the X looks amazing.

Pretty much the same because they both use the same dire CPU at roughly the same clockspeed.

Microsoft would have been better off doing the same as PS4 Pro and targetting something like 1440P upscaled with a cheaper GPU, most Xbox owners just want a console that runs native 1080P decently and the market for 4K is tiny but targetting native 4K means the XB1X is poor value.

The next generation consoles will use some derivative of Ryzen (hopefully), even a quad core would be far faster than what's in current consoles.

Unfortunately there was no better CPU option at the time. 4K is effectively free as it’s almost all GPU dependent.

Any road, I’m not believing anything until Digital Foundry gives us the lowdown. Then again, they could say black is white and I’d believe them. ;)

Wow people are already putting the Xbox X down based on a ubisoft title  which even a high end pc can struggle to run because its such a badly optimised piece of cack.

Jeez, some people are so desperate to convince themselves that the X1 won’t have higher framerates, better IQ and more graphically impressive exclusives. My Pro is soon becoming my PlayStation exclusive” box only as no point playing the lesser version of 3rd party titles.

Very much what I am going to do pal...

There is if you don’t want to spend 450.

I can second the opinion of AC:Origins on Xbox One X at EGX. However I'm not judging the One X on that game a lone.

What didn't help was that it appeared they had set their TV's to that horrible dynamic mode you see in shops where the picture is washed out, over sharpened and bright enough to burn your retinas. The build of the game they were using most definitely suffered from poor frame rate, stuttering, texture pop in, especially if you panned the camera around a bit quick though, but that's basically the norm for early assassin creed games on any system!

However, I saw Shadow of War on the One X too and that was completely the opposite, although the TV's they used in that section weren't set up as you would at home either.

I think just like the Pro Tomb Raider is the game to use as a benchmark.

I’d never base anything on a pre release Ubisoft Game.
