Xbox One X

Jeez, some people are so desperate to convince themselves that the X1 won’t have higher framerates, better IQ and more graphically impressive exclusives. My Pro is soon becoming my PlayStation exclusive” box only as no point playing the lesser version of 3rd party titles.

Has any third party developer confirmed any game for the X will be better than the Pro version? Just curious.

Well it won't have higher frame-rates compared to PS4 Pro because both are heavily CPU limited to much the same extent, Xbox One X will have higher resolution but that's basically due to the better GPU.

Forza 7 on PC runs pretty much on a single CPU core that tells you all you need to know about how powerful the current console CPU's are.

When was the last time xbox one has had a good exclusive in recent years? All I can think of is forza horizon 3... (gears 4 was cack)

I've still got mine pre-ordered and keep trying to justify it to myself. The main games I currently play are rainbow 6 siege/ Destiny 2 and upsettingly neither seem to be getting a GPU bump up. I think I'll get one regardless in the blind hope that anthem is good.... The alternative is to keep my One S and maybe buy a subwoofer instead...

I had a chance to play the Xbox One X at EGX yesterday and it was extremely disappointing.

In the case of Assassins creed the MS Rep said beforehand that it boasted amazing 4K graphics, ultra smooth graphics that was not even using the full power of the system and an incredible amount of detail (advising to use the bird to show that off).

In reality it was pathetic, tearing, slowdown, popup and textures (poor textures) that filled in when you were almost on top of the object. We asked another rep from their tech dept about the poor performance and the fact that it was so poor in general and he basically agreed and said there was nothing they could do about it as they have to work with what they have.

So it's very well for MS to say the the Xbox One X can do this and that but when they are unable to demo anything that proves it then what is the point. Forza actually ran OK but was nothing amazing, certainly no better and probably a little less detailed than GT Sport on the PS4 Pro.

So basically very disappointing from MS who had nothing to show really.
Yea, no, had a friend come from the show as he works for a big studio in Canada, he was saying the exact opposite.

About AC:Origins?

As someone who played it at EGX, it really wasn't a good demo of the One X or the game itself. There were definite pauses as you spun the camera around as it loaded in textures and assets. Frame rate dips were also common when this happened. It felt like the engine was "catching up" then it would run ok for a bit, until it needed to load some new stuff, then the process would repeat itself.

Granted, the TV's were poorly set up which made the textures over sharpened and washed out, but the TV's can't be blamed for the poor frame rate.

I'm not purposely trying to put the game/console down as I have a One X on pre-order, so I'm hoping the issues I saw will be ironed out for release/ post release patch.

He can't be talking about what was shown at the show then, as that was without a doubt terrible and even the MS rep agreed.

I read that the Project Cars 2 stated the X version will be a significant upgrade over the pro version. Will be interesting to see just how much better it will be.

It probably one of them, unless someone points out the difference to you then you will not notice.

Are there an exclusives coming to the one X?

I'm asking as I'm looking at getting a console but not sure between the one X and the one. Bearing in mind I have a 720p TV and I do prefer a higher frame rate than higher resolutions, I hear you can change to a high Frame rate mode on the upgraded console.

Any info appreciated, cheers

There will not be any X-only games. (Well not for a few years anyway.)

The high frame rate option will depend on each game. Some will have an option for 60fps but it's up to the developers to decide what to do. Forza Motorsport 7 has 60fps but Forza Horizon 3 won't, for example.

Yeah it will be, i don’t think i’ll bother with the X , happy enough with my pro and now fifas out i’ll be on that for a long while. Halfway through the Witcher 3 with Zero Dawn to play after.

What are peoples expectations in terms of next generation consoles coming out? 2020? Earlier?

Thinking 2020 would suggest I might as well buy a one X as I'll end up buying one anyways..

Really hard to judge, these mid cycle refreshes have changed things. Probably should be 19/20 which would be 6/7 years but we might get another year or 2 because of the X/Pro. Tbh I’d feel a bit short changed if I got any less than 3 years out of the Scorpio.

I've decided to just order from currys. I've got the Scorpio edition on pre order from Amazon too. I have an credit account with currys with 2 grand available so I decided to use it as its good for my credit rating. I've got the cash sitting ready in my savings account but I'm not bothered if it's Scorpio or standard. It's the same exact thing hardware wise. Leaves me a lot more money to spend over Christmas too.
