Xbox Scorpio

Supports adaptive refresh rates via next gen HDMI - not sure how this works for G Sync displays but I suspect free sync and newer HDR 4K sets with the correct HDMI and adaptive refresh rate will take advantage of this. Should remove tearing and stutter. For someone like me that uses G Sync on PC this will be a game changer for Console gamers with the correct compatible display.

That's why I was asking if new xbox includes hdmi 2.1, will change my TV plan

Was planning on LG oled 6 series, still unsure.

I'm holding off on a new TV purchase as well right now. I'm in no hurry, so i'll wait as freesync - adaptive refresh rate for a console coming from G Sync would be a huge win for me. I'd buy this no problem with the right display and only use a PlayStation for exclusives or until Sony adopts the same.

My Pioneer Kuro getting bit old now, hitting 10 years of service ;-)

See how long I can hold off :(

Wow did not think Microsoft would implement HDMI 2.1 on the scorpio based on it not even being available on the pc hardware yet.

Hats of to them though :)

Freesync feature is great but unless I've missed something no tv support it anyway ? Pc monitors do but overall most people play on a tv not a pc monitor

I guess Microsoft are serious when they say it's a premium product, they know people that go for this would likely have a 4k Freesync monitor or get a vrr tv when they release

For a brief moment yesterday, I questioned my next PC upgrade. This is shaping up to be a real contender for my gaming setup....

The biggest problem for this console will be GAMES!!!! If you don't have a PC then it could be a choice, but for 1st party games there is no contest in Xbox and Playstation. It will be interesting to see the price and what 1st party games are in development at E3. Specs look decent but games sell consoles....

But it's useless tech if no games I get the market there aiming for but most people in that market who want the 4k etc have a pc that's high end which lately gets all Xbox games anyway so that's Scorpio biggest issue for me.

Microsoft have created a big problem for themselves, it's too early to make a new Xbox e.g. Xbox 3, they have also made the rule that anything on Scorpio has to run on Xbox one. It can't have Scorpio exclusives. The market it aims for as mentioned above is a tricky situation. So if you have a high end pc why bother with a premium Xbox knowing you'll end up with the same games.

Microsoft need and should focus on new ip but they can't claim exclusive stuff anymore there in a no win situation, also if they go to e3 and it's yet again more of the same gears, halo,Forza etc I'd feel it's Scorpio that's let down offering no new games so all the power wasted. Games will be an improvement but not enough to justify replacing my Xbox one s or high end pc

yeah but exclusives or not, if the machine powers games that are on PC /X1 and PS4 better then even a good spec PC and you are in the market for a new TV next year and get one with VRR tech then this machine does still look attractive and just use a Sony machine for the exclusives - if you haven't got a PC already and this machine comes in at under £400 it really is a no brain if you ask me.

Its got a lot of power for a games console with some niffy new tech and 12GB memory is massive and devs can use high res textures , the GPU is decent so on paper it looks good, and even if you just play multi plats it should perform pretty well.

I'm hoping that e3 we will see a joint Bethesda/Microsoft announcement of the next Elder scrolls with Microsoft exclusive content (I'm clearly hoping for too much lol)

You would be loopy if you think TV manufacturers will be all on board this tech as soon as next year, HDR is still a mess at the moment with specs and different implementations, all this console does is manage to make buying a new TV even more of a minefield for the next few years whilst manufacturers mess about with specs and what not.

Not a good time to be in the market for a new TV at all.
