Xbox Scorpio

Yet another 'no games' line. Where has this even come from? The Xbox One (and Scorpio) has, and will have, plenty of games.

People will buy this for the exact same reason people bought the PS4 Pro, to play the many games available in the best graphical fidelity & res possible.
It has no exclusive games as anything on Xbox is on pc, of course it has games, but Microsoft have nothing new in regards to ip it same old

So you have been to this years E3, do tell.

Yep Sunset Overdrive, Forza 6, newer Halo's, all on PC, oh wait.......:p

For me personally I don't own a PC so they may as well be exclusives.

Xbox One (as will Scorpio) offers more than just exclusives, 4K Blu ray, BC (which is actually a pretty impressive catalogue now) and generally the games for gold are pretty good offerings. EA access worthy of consideration as well.

I doubt i'll ever sell my PS4 as the exclusives are great, but that's all I use it for, Scorpio will just solidify that.

Erm I didn't say it offered less or implied it wasn't worth it? But people have a right to point out it's lack of games because there simply is, I own an Xbox one s and a decent pc, I love fact Xbox one s has a 4k player. You go back to 360 early days they gave us new ip, true exclusives. If you define exclusive on 2 formats then fair enough I however dont. Scorpio for a console has lots of power but want Microsoft to give us new ip and invest in that regard, if they announce new stuff at e3 I think they will be okay if they come out and announce what we expect and nothing else then colour me not interested. I think this way because i have a high end pc maybe if I didn't I would class them exclusive. I'd say there brand exclusive if anything these days I guess. Sony has proven new ip can work, there only ones developing them and Nintendo do the old few.

There seems to be a general tone in here that the Scorpio, or the Xbox One in general doesn't offer any games, or much in general. My later post wasn't directly aimed at you.

But to quote:

Not the case, people need to start saying 'exclusive games' instead of 'games' :p

In which case I would tend to agree, MS needs more killer exclusive games whether they're play anywhere or not.

Amen. I can see quite a few Xbox games for sale...

To highlight the amount of false hype look at this:
OPINION: Why Xbox Scorpio can be considered next-generation console

Despite the disagreements when it comes to the chip or memory, even the Eurogamer leaks established that the console features 6 TFLOPS of power. This means that Project Scorpio is 4.5 times more powerful than the Xbox One and 1.4 times more powerful than the PlayStation 4 Pro.

By that definition the original PS4 was "next generation" compared to Xbox One because it was 1.85tflops versus 1.3tflops of the Xbox One, both consoles were mostly CPU limited in the end and in Xbox One's case also fill-rate limited (32 ROP's v 16 ROP's), the dfference in compute power wasn't really that big a deal.

Scorpio is going to be to PS4 Pro what PS4 was to Xbox One - slightly better able to run games at higher resolutions. Press releases like this which is a tech demo being sold as what Scorpio games will look like is just pure marketing, they'd might as well have just used 3DMark.

False hype?

Not sure what you were expecting, but 4.5 times more powerful from the previous iteration is hardly underwhelming.

I agree, it's certainly not false hype, a very powerful console is coming which is good :)

Unfortunately I won't be buying it however, with my PC the way it is Play Anywhere means I can pick up the "exclusives" I want to play which in all honesty hasn't been many. In fact my XBox One hasn't been turned on this year at all, I don't have any reason or desire to do so.

PC/PS4/Switch combo is working out well right now for me.

As with the ps4 pro though, the 4.5 times power can only be used for upping the games' res to 4K at the minute. Hopefully this changes, but if it does and they start making exclusive 1080p games for the pro and scorpio I don't think OG buyers will be very happy. Saying that, they would still be CPU limited. These new consoles are good for what they were designed for and that's making 1080p games run at 4K. To call them next gen isn't really accurate because they aren't allowed to do anything the XBone S and PS4 can't do.

That's all I was ever expecting it to do, up the graphical quality, I don't expect to ever see a Scorpio exclusive game.

I see the Pro and Scorpio as being the same as buying a new GPU, you don't get any new games specific for your GPU but they'll run and look better.

There was an interesting snippet in a Guardian interview with Phil Spencer.

When pushed on how far developers will be able to take their specialist support of Scorpio, Spencer is also ambiguous. With the extra RAM and processing power, it may be possible for some teams to add extra gameplay content only accessible to Scorpio owners. This, he says, hasn’t been broached yet – but again, he’s preaching flexibility, and an openness to what the creatives want to do. “These are decisions I think it’s better for us to make in the context of specific game ideas that people have,” he says. “We’re in constant dialogue with developers about the ways they would like to exploit the Scorpio hardware. All of the ideas teams have come back with today are about how to make the game feel and look better on Scorpio. We haven’t had many people that have wanted to create a gameplay difference.”

So he's not saying a big NO to anyone who wants to create something unique for Scorpio it seems. Whether that could be extra levels or a whole game. It remains a possibility.

They (MS and Sony) may let the dev's have free rain nearer the end of this gens lifecycle. Would be good to see an exclusive level here and there just to show what they can do with all the extra power at 1080p.

Same here, Improve the graphics and improve frame rate/performance...that is all I want from it
