Xbox Scorpio

Yup, I've been watching some ps 4 pro vs ps 4 comparisons (mainly from digital foundry) and very disappointed tbh, I thought the pro was quite a bit better for graphics AND performance but to me it doesn't look that much better at all and certainly not worth the extra:

- you have to really look for the differences in graphics for some of the titles and usually the main difference seems to be draw distance, shadows and a few extra light rays/shafts
- performance, I thought the pro ran most games at 60 fps vs 30 fps of the normal ps 4 but it only seems to be a few titles that have that advantage over the normal ps 4? Also, when the FPS drops, the pro seems to dip to the same levels too..... And for some games, the ps 4 pro actually drops fps more often than the normal ps 4, I believe this has been patched for some of the games now though i.e. the last of us but still, poor show

Given that Sony still haven't released sales figures for the pro, I'm guessing it hasn't done too well, which is why much effort hasn't been put into the pro versions, not to mention, the patches/additions for the pro version seem to arrive a good few months later? I am already fed up with the lack of good releases on the PC and don't want to have the same experience on a console too....

As for the scorpio, couldn't really care less about it tbh, no point buying it if they don't have any good exclusives imo.

Xbox Scorpio uses the same AMD Jaguar CPU so you aren't going to get huge increases in frame rate on that either, they're mainly only going to be able to up the resolution (4K) and overall graphical details. It'll be able to run games at a higher resolution than PS4 Pro but if you're expecting huge increases in frame-rate (ie. jumps to 60fps) you'll be disappointed. It's basically to PS4 Pro what PS4 was to Xbox One.

It's like having a PC with an Athlon 5370 (AM1) and expecting a Geforce 1080 to give you a massive improvement over an RX480, you'll be able to up the graphics but you'll still be hugely CPU bottlenecked in terms of overall frame-rate.

Isn't the point though with DX12 shunted into the base of the GPU that the CPU work is offloaded away from it?

Yeah I read that on Digital Foundry but I'm sure I also read that's what they do now with DX11 but I can't find the sauce.

The overall system performance is night and day regarding ps4/pro. The console is snappier overall. As for games, I do not notice any slowdown on titles that used to judder a bit. Regarding improvements it is down to the devs yes, but when used its great.

ARK for example is a 720p blurry, stuttering mess on a vanilla ps4. But 1080p and performs better on a pro.

That would be quite something, thinking back to Oblivion on the 360.
Those where the days, brings back great memories, exploring cyrodiil with a beer and smoke, now it's trying to fit gaming around Peppa pig and paw patrol.....hold on a minute it's my TV, I'm the adult...wtf :D

Good luck trying to argue with a toddler, I gave up a couple of weeks after my daughter started being bossy lol.

It has to get closer to the ps4 pro surely...i get that its a lot more powerful but the mass market just see it as an upgrade. If its £400 or more it will flop...and hard.

I would love to see 399, but looking at it I can't see Ms selling it for that unless they are willing to take a hot on each unit.
