Im just going to use an existing external SSD connected via USB and transfer games onto internal when I want to play them. Seems like that's the best way to go, I'd be interested in the Seagate expansion card for around £150 but im not paying any more than that.

Eurogamer had it down for £159 on Smyths website.

Game aren't taking all access orders online just now. You need to go to store.

Smyths have sold out of Series X on all access and only have the Series S still available on all access.
Only problem is game aren’t even doing the all access plans in store either. Well the one near me isn’t as I went in there yesterday to apply but was told not a chance as they don’t have any stock.

Going by Twitter, it looks like your email will be far from the only one they receive.

I'm not really getting it. If they sold over their allocation, that should be easy to sort. Fulfill the orders on a "first come, first served" basis, and then contact everyone else giving them the option to get the next available unit, or cancel.
Neither am I to be honest lol. Rather than cancel people’s orders, just fulfill the first one then do the others or as you said give them the option to keep or cancel.

I have had a reply on twitter from Smyths (Klarna asked me to PM them, which I did, but no reply so far):

"Hi, we are aware of this issue, please bear with us while we look into this. We will be in touch via the email used to place the order as soon as possible".

I contacted Smyths by phone (after having a non existent direct debit setup by Klarna on the 22nd, then an All Access order from the 23rd cancelled today). They haven't got a clue what's going on! The person in the call centre told me there's a team having an emergency meeting, which tells me this was possibly unplanned OR not carried out accoring to plan. I work in IT for a building society, and believe me, major IT accidents most definitely do happen! I honestly wouldn't be surprised if this was an accident affecting a huge number of orders. No doubt they're in panic mode.

More importantly, if you've had an All Access order cancelled, raise a complaint with Smyths. A hard credit check would have been made against you. Regular hard credit checks are detrimental to your credit score.

So much for the £449 series x cost...

£449 for the console, plus £220 for a decent amount of storage, plus £20 per controller for a rechargeable battery...

You don't need the storage expansion or play & charge kit to use the console though. They might be desirable. But the console functions fine without them.

I'm quite shocked at the £220 price. But storage expansion was always destined to be a bit of a horror show this gen. Will be interesting to see how expensive a 1TB NVME is for PS5. £250? £300? More?

£220! :D

They must be having a laugh.

Probably wont expand the storage, will just keep a few games installed at a time. Ive got pretty fast fibre so not too bothered about having to re-download games if i want to play them again.

No, you don't but I'd want a rechargeable battery for definite, it's not 1998 any more :D:p

As for the PS5 storage prices, hopefully they'll release a good range of compatible SSD's - the just released Samsung 980 pro is around the same price but there's bound to be slightly slower options around £100 for 1TB which is much much more appealing. With MS you've got one option, take it or leave it.

The Smyths cancellation was an error. Just confirmed by email. Woohoo! :D

Yep same here but do we believe it

My Klarna account still shows cancelled tho

4 rechargeable AA batteries, 2 in the controller, 2 charged and ready, costs about £14 for the batteries (panasonic eneloop), jobs a good un!

At least that way, unlike Playstation pads, once the batteries stop holding their charge, you can still use the control pad with new batteries, rather than having a useless contol pad :)
