So I looked at GP for console last night and gota say there wasn't actually much on there I'd want to play, it knocked my enthusiasm back quite a bit but I had it on PC so perhaps that's why. That said, was very surprised to see Nier automata on there as I didn't even know it was on Xbox and was on my backlog of PS4 games to play.

These were my picks which would last me plenty enough:

I'm holding off on ME incase the remake rumour is true, I'd rather play that. I'd probably enjoy Sea of Thieves but I don't really have friends who play games online.
I suppose I'm thinking that for all the purported value of GP, if the titles aren't there currently then are you really getting any value from it? In my case I think so initially but once the titles start to dry out then you're paying for something you don't make much use of. With the Brazil workaround though its basically what £2.36 a month which is insignificant, full price though I'd be more concerned.

Don't forget that loads of EA Play stuff is coming to Game Pass soon too!

Yeah I remembered this in a later post :)

How many TV's support 4k at 120hz though?

It's nice but I don't see it being a game changer, would rather have have better visuals at 60fps.

Agree, totally irrelevant for most, I can't afford to get a new OLEd with 2.1 and tbh that would be a bonus feature, the OLED is what I want for IQ, not fussed about 120 over 60 fps.

Can I ask why people who already own powerful PC’s are buying an Xbox? Pretty much every game will be released on PC too.

I want a console for the TV.

Buying a PS5 to go alongside my PC would give me access to a slightly larger selection of games (pretty much Miles Morales, Demon's Souls, GT7, Ratchet & Clank, God Of War and Horizon). But selection isn't really a problem for me. I don't have time to play everything I want to as it is.

On the other hand, buying an Xbox allows subscriptions and some purchases to be shared between PC and console (and mobile). I can access more of my games in my preferred location at the time. I'm currently playing through A Plague's Tale. I can play that upstairs on the PC, or downstairs on the TV, or on my phone. In the future, hopefully on my Surface tablet too. I like the flexibility.

Plus, an Xbox Series S is a pretty small commitment. It's £249. Game Pass Ultimate is paid up until February 2022. And I will buy very few games for it, mostly relying on Game Pass (and the occasional digital game on sale). If I bought a PS5, it would cost me another £100 and I'd then want PS+ (~£40 per year) and some games at £50+ a pop.

Spider Man was one of my favourite games this gen. I'd love to play the new one. But I just can't justify £349 or £449 plus the cost of PS+, plus buying games. Either the PS5 would rarely get used, or I'd wind up spending £600-£700 or more over the next couple of years.

Console does seem to have more benefits than PC, I doubt I'd be unhappy without a PC, got a 2070 RTX laptop too. But it's so easy to get ducked into the hype of new tech.

Just multiplayer I think ?

60 and presumably better visuals for campaign

Yeah multiplayer makes sense but still need the tv to make use of it, maybe the new TVs coming out this year or next will have it more widely.

Word of warning to those hoping to play a game on the xbox and then continue on the pc, only a few games support cloud save. A plagues tale for example doesnt sync saves between pc and console.

First party games with play anywhere do but games listed separately on gamepass as "for windows" dont. At least on the ones I've tried anyway.

Surely that computing power means you will get better visuals at 60fps? As long as the developer tweaks it accordingly.

Sorry I meant more in that I wouldn't go out and buy a new TV for it.

Should change that to "I'd be happy with better visuals at 60fps", which seems to be the case as you say.

I'm probably a minority but its one of the main reasons for me buying the new xbox, I bought my 4k 120 OLED last year and have been waiting for something to take full advantage of it.

The best I have ever gamed at is 75hz on my gaming Rig, and the PC in the living room has a GTX1070 in it so is capped at 4k 60 over HDMI (Not that it would be capable of 4k 120)

Oh, yeah, can’t see many doing that. I’d be happy with a sustained 60fps like you say and slightly better visuals.

Ah! So "Cloud Enabled" on a game page doesn't mean cloud save games between PC and Xbox, it means available to play on Android via streaming. "Xbox Play Anywhere" is the label you want to look out for, if you want to hop between PC and Xbox, such as on Resident Evil VII. Right now, there are 76 of these games. That feature never really took off, did it? :p

Does the Xbox still give you free cloud saves for every single game on the system? So you never have to worry about backing up your saves manually?

When you look at the list of games, there's more to it than them all just being 120fps.

Infinite is 120fps in multiplayer only.

Gears 5 is an Xbox One game. The Series X version is already enhanced, with visuals which go beyond the PC version's max settings. So no real compromise there; it's only worth pushing an old game so far.

Dirt 5 has a 120fps option.

Siege and Ori are Xbox One games. Enabling them for higher frame rate is a fairly simple and compared to doing a major overhaul. Chances are, a bunch of other Xbox One games will follow.

Not sure on the specifics with the rest.
