Has anyone tried retroarch on the series x? Wondering what cores were available. Really want Amiga and ps1 to work.

Edit: looks like ps2 is almost fully working on it.

For anyone who might not know, you purchase the dev kit app from the store. Microsoft allowed this ages ago to stop people messing with the consoles. The console then boots into dev mode allowing you to run 3rd party apps. In dev mode the xbox will not boot any xbox games you have to reboot back to normal mode.

Really cool m$ allowed this to happen, turns your console into a mini PC really.

Wow, I had no idea this was a thing. If they manage to get the PS2 working without issue then that's really impressive and I'd use it a lot. Especially all those old classic PS1+PS2 JRPGs that look like crap on modern HDTVs (need an old CRT to look right.) To have it all on a single console is something I've wanted for bloody ages... I just never expected it would be on an Xbox

I'd remove that, as the mods don't like the discussion of emulators!

I am mightily impressed with the Arctis 9X using the DTS:X headphones. They were in use for 12 hours straight yesterday, for a mixture of games and then to stream the Mandalorian. Sounded excellent with everything I threw at it, including twice having to guide a mate round by sound on R6, which has worked incredibly since using DTS. Even then, their battery level was above 50%!!

Can they do 7.1 with the series X?

Finally completed the noisy cartographer on FH4, was stuck on 99% for at least a year but as soon as I checked the map on the series X I could see a driveway I hadn't been down in the North West of the map!!!

Couple of questions if anyone knows or could help please

We have xbox for our son for xmas.
Want to test it to make sure it works but he's off atm as covid issue in his class so he has to be off school ( seems ot be at home more than school atm :( ) .

I assume we can just power it up and test it without inputting xbox user id etc?

Also he has a Thrustmaster Ferrari 458 Spider which he uses on his xbox now for forza etc Will this still work on the series X ok ?

Thank you

I hope Microsoft fix the wireless headset issue where if you idle the X controller for about 11 seconds you get crackly sound until you move the controller again. Sounds like it’s a known issue. Apparently fine if you use the One controller, so I guess we need a firmware update. Doesn’t happen with Netflix, just gaming. Usually fine for a while after a full restart, but soon comes back.

If you download the insider app and join it, there is already a supposed fix for the headset crackle (join the omega test ring - it'll be the only one you can join as a new insider user)

I haven't tried on the Series X, but I'd assume you should be able to set it up offline as before. Can always give it a try and see how far you get, but I have set up and made offline profiles for Xbox One.

You'll only get to a prompt to setup an account via the Xbox app when you first boot it up. I'm not sure if there is a way to skip that and get to the dashboard.

Thanks will do that next week when he's back at school just to make sure it power sup and doesn't smoke or anything lol
