I already own a PS5 but I'm seeing that Series X are back in stock in places. Would anyone be able to list a reason to switch or even own both? I'm thinking about Game Pass, is it a big advantage? Are there exclusive titles worth playing?

If I had game pass, would that be valid for Xbox and PC games both?
I own both but I barely use the Xbox. For me, Game pass is full of uninspired middle to low tier titles. I should add that I'm not a strong fan of FPS games, and in my opinion, that's what the best games on Game Pass typically are. If you are like me and prefer RPGs/JRPGs or action/adventure titles then I think the Playstation platform is a better fit. Perhaps in 2-3 years time that dynamic could change, if all the studios Microsoft recently bought start to churn out some quality games.

So, in short, if you like FPS, Game Pass ( and Xbox ) might be worthwhile for you. And yes, if you get Game Pass Ultimate ( not Gold ) it works for both PC and Xbox, with many games having cross-save features enabled across both platforms. But ... I don't think Game Pass is as good as many make out.

Is there a way I can get my xbox S to download 360 and Xbone games straight to my USb storage and download X/S games to the main storage so I don't have to download and then move games across?

You can set default install location to your USB device. That way, One games and 360 games install there no problem and when you go to install an X/S game it will say it needs faster storage so you just hit confirm for it to install to internal.

Ordered my Xbox series x. Rather excited! Decided to pause pc upgrade until later in the year when GPU market has settled. Got it on a monthly payment of £28.99 from Game including Ultimate game pass. Given that I was paying for Game pass for pc anyway it feels a bit odd a bargain. Happy gaming! Going to pick up h27qc 1440p monitor to go with it

EDIT: Turns out I might not be able to play 1440p at 120hz with a HDMI 2.0 monitor. This makes me very sad. Is that right, that I need hdmi 2.1 to get above 60 hz refresh rate? And there was me thinking this would be a cost effective upgrade to my gaming experience until I build my new PC. 4k monitors with HDMI are more expensive than the console. Am I missing something? Any recommendations for monitors? 1080p seems a bit of a waste on this console....

Pretty sure hdmi 2.1 is for 4k120 and above, 2k120 is fine on hdmi 2.0. Just wait for another reply but I am sure I am right. If the monitor is 120 hertz and supports 2.0 that tells you it is fine otherwise it wouldn't support 120hertz.

Thanks. Seems to be conflicting info out there in the ether on this so hoping someone can help out. That said, not sure my ageing eye will spot a difference above 60 hz anyway? Stupid question but is 1440p/60hz basically saying you’d be capped at 60fps?

Correct, also you do notice a difference from 60 to 120 although for me not much.

So would you go for a 1440p at 144hz or a 4k at 60Hz? I'm leaning toward the latter now
For me personally, I would go with the latter. But what sort of games do you like to play ? Anything above 60Hz offers little for general gaming. Or are you into competitive online FPS games ?

I've played my Xbox Series X at 120hz at 1440P on a Benq EX2780Q, worked great. Monitor is HDMI 2.0 but that has the required bandwidth for 120@ 1440P

Oh god, trying to do facility in under 2:05 on 00 difficulty again will be fun

I did get 007 on the original but that was back in the days of having 1/2 games to play. Think I’ll be leaving it this time, can’t wait though MP should be tremendous, apart from the Oddjob cheese ;)

Won't be the same if your not wall crawling so your mate can't screen cheat. Online should be banned ;)

Have any of you guys tried the Gold -> Ultimate conversion recently? My ultimate has just run out.
Yup. Did it yesterday. Didn't do the vpn thing though.

I just bought a couple of years of gold from cdkeys and then upgraded them to ultimate

Yes, as you a said, summer! Time to pack away the consoles and enjoy the long bright evenings until autumn.

Good game, how'd the packing go? :p

Next stage of XCloud.

We’re excited to share that later this year, it’s our intent to roll out the ability for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members to play, from the cloud, select games they already own or have purchased outside the Xbox Game Pass library.

I'd say that is a welcome move but they really need to get 4K streaming with way better colours and clarity out the door. It's painful right now in comparison to the Gaikai solution that PlayStation use even though they are only 1080p, too.

I think the issue is that Xcloud is using Rainway as the technology provider and I never could get rainway gaming for PC streaming to work well, it was always grainy and a bit rubbish looking compared to Parsec or nVidia Gamestream whihc would do 4K @ 60fps with minimal latency/encoder blocking.

What do you all typical spend your Microsoft promotional balance on?

I've got £12 that expires soon and I'm looking at games and thinking the £12 isn't enough for anything decent and most of them will come to GP eventually anyway, I don't have a desktop PC so don't need any apps for that

Would rather they just deduct from that balance for my monthly 100GB OneDrive subscription but can't see a way to do it or add it to my gamepass subscription

Am I missing any tricks? It's nice to have the free money but not sure what to spend it on without having to contribute X amount toward it

Cheers
