Day one here also, both if my money allows. Kinda wish Microsoft did a Sony and had a full power all digital version, surprised they didn’t with everything seemingly heading towards Gamepass.
Still would buy my imaginary Nintendo 12TB home console with Zelda/F-Zero day one release games though :p

Because the Xbox One S All Digital Edition didn't sell well. Less than a year after it was released and MS decides to discontinue it.

I wouldn't be hugely shocked if the Series S turns out to be disc-free. Chances are, they've approached that machine with a focus on keeping the price down as much as possible. It'll sell because it's a cheap route in to the next gen.

I can't remember the last game I physically bought, but being able to use my console as a 4K blu-ray player is rather useful to me. It's the only device I own that still contains a disk drive :p

Do we know anything spec about it yet? Or anything for that matter. I'm very curious about it as need a pc upgrade for editing also. So money is very tight.
It's rumoured about 4.5tf iirc? Which is plenty for me :P

New details have just emerged about the GPU used in the Xbox Series S “Lockhart.” Microsoft’s purported entry level 9th generation console is set to feature 20 RDNA CUs, meaning 1280 shader cores. This compares favourably with AMD’s Radeon RX 5500XT graphics card in the PC space, which features a 22 CU configuration with 1408 shaders.

I originally expected that price point, however, I would have thought they'd prefer to take more of a hit in the price, with prices of 299/499 depending on which console you went for.

Just can’t see them going into the 600’s, even in the 500’s is a ton of money for most consumers. I’m going to guess at £529... 499 would be perfect :p

I do wonder if Microsoft will have some sort of gift/incentive on purchase now that Halo is a no show.

Thanks.

£500/300 feels a bit off to me. I'd like to think 600/300. Mostly because 40% less for the S series just doesn't seem enough, unless the S is getting a half decent processor and/or SSD. As less GPU power than the 1X with no advantages, why even bother with the S. I'd rather cough up the 40% more for significant advantages all around. Or just get a 1X.

I dunno know what to think. MS want people on the gamepass so having a cheap entry level console would help with that, i guess, maybe. I don't know the thought process of the average joe though. Or if £250 for *brand new tech* is even remotely feasible. (Mostly out of date hardware though :p )

I think the Xbox All Access programme (providing it's still 0% APR) will be the way to go. £25/month for the console+Game Pass Ultimate is much easier to stomach than £549 or whatever it ends up being.

The series S is meant to be getting a much better CPU than what is in the One X. So although it will lack some power in the GOU department, you should see improvements in CPU heavy games.

From the internet gossip, it is supposed to do everything exactly the same as the Series X but at 1080p instead of 4K.

Yeah, from what I've also seen, it appears to be exactly that. Series S is targeted at those who either don't want 4K gaming, maybe playing on smaller screens, or just simply don't want the expense to do so.

If the backwards compatibility is that good, I wonder if Microsoft might be looking to upload their entire back catalogue onto GamePass..........could make for an amazing nostalgia trip for us older gamers.

I also wonder if they might be looking to release a dirt cheap Xcloud streaming box - could put something on the market for peanuts and capture the lowend/kids bedroom market........maybe release a box for virtually nothing - Make it only compatible with the XsX controller, and make the box cost back through controller sales and subs.

What's missing that you'd like to see?

Quick question, the summer sale is now on, do the deals remain static over the course of 10 days or do they change daily?
