Hmm probably expected that price but still it is quite a chunk of change! Assuming it will come with a controller and a game for that . .. .
Gonna be an expensive run in to Christmas with getting PS5 as well!

You can bet your mortgage that the SX will be bundled with a gamepass ultimate sub for 1-3 months.

Just to put it out there

What’s to stop Microsoft offering win10 support in some way shape or form and allowing the new Xbox to work as a desktop machine.
If I could plug in keyboard and mouse and fire up office365 and a few other apps It could 100% replace my pc and £550/600 for a pc that can act as a new gen console is a lot easier to contemplate than a new console only.

Then it just be a PC, which is what MS doesn't want the console to be.

Look what happened to the Steam Machine.

Cause at that stage it's not a consol anymore

I think that's the worst idea I've ever heard :p

I've been trying to decide what to do with my current xbox x which my son has. We'll be upgrading to the series x, but I think looking at the models I may keep it and move it into the living room

Series X

CPU: Eight-core 3.8GHz (3.6GHz with SMT) custom AMD 7nm
GPU: 12 teraflops 1.825GHz (locked)
RAM: 16GB GDDR6
Frame rate: Up to 120 fps
Resolution: Up to 8K
Optical: HD Blu-Ray disk drive
Storage: 1TB NVMe SSD

X

CPU: Eight-core 2.3GHz custom AMD
GPU: Six teraflops 1172 MHz
RAM: 12GB GDDR5
Frame rate: Up to 60 fps
Resolution: Up to 4K
Optical: HD Blu-Ray disk drive
Storage: 1TB HDD

Series S

GPU: Four teraflops

XBOX One

CPU: Eight-core 1.7GHz custom AMD
GPU: 1.31 teraflops
RAM: 8GB GDDR3
Storage: 500GB/1TB HDD

500 quid for an all in one box of tricks you couldn't build for anywhere near the price is the worst idea you've ever heard?

Strange...

Yep, I'd hate a desktop OS on a console. Consoles should be turn on, play the game, turn off.

You'd really want a console which would end up saying (windows is installing update 1 of 30)? not to mention the drivers!!

Have a word with yourself man :D

To be fair, both my xbox and PS4 do a Sheila's of updates every time I go to play a game......... I remember the days when you just put a game in and it worked....... But that's mean waiting until games are finished before releasing them !

I think you've missed the point...

He wants a 12 teraflop pc for £500?

What point have I missed

Don't get me wrong, if the likes of dell or someone wants to make a custom gaming pc, great. I'm just saying I like consoles to run an optimised OS specifically for gaming. Whilst the xbox runs a similar kernel to windows, the OS is designed for gaming, not running office365.

If you could buy a gaming pc with those specs for £500, I would probably buy one, but I'd still want a "console" under the living room TV.

It's been a very long time since I last built a gaming PC, how much is a 12teraflop card these days? I shudder to think.

:edit: OK, an RTX 2080 Super graphics card does 11.1 teraflops and costs..(is this right?) £690

Who says the console has to run a full Windows OS?

You seem to think it's a bad idea because it might compromise gaming on the console. There's no reason why that has to be the case.

But yeah, worst idea in the world.
Lol.

I'm not sure what point you're trying to make but yeah lol

Can you honestly see Microsoft porting the office store app to Xbox?

I get it, I really do....trust me, I'm a gadget freak as much as the next fella, but what your thinking isn't as good as what you're imagining. I'm an early adopter. I bought the windows phone, the surface pro, the first windows RT tablet. I know what using the word app sandboxed feels like.

Watch the YT video just posted, and imaging a tile on the dashboard for edge, then one for word, onedrive, and so on. It's not a nice experience. It's a bloody awful one. Actually, you can run edge on xbox already, so imaging that with a keyboard and mouse. If you like it, fair enough.
