It is getting pretty annoying now. I'd like to just pre-order (given it isn't a daft price), so at least I know I can get one close to launch.

It's a beast of a console and it's not going to be cheap. Premium console at a premium price. They won't want to go back to loss making on hardware. The S will keep people happy if they just want to play FIFA and Fortnite on a shiny new console. I think the high spec model will be aimed at the people who want and are willing to pay for the best that they can get.

So Phil Spencer has always been very forthright in his opinion that they would not be beaten on power or price. With that I would imagine £450 or £499. But knowing MS they’ll go for £599 or £649 :p

Over £600 would be suicide for MS, I think mid 500s would be about right. I've budgeted for £550 so im certainly hoping that's what it comes in as. Anything less is obviously a bonus.

so i was going to be all over this but now im not 100 per cent sold :(

price still yet to be announced ?

now they have said regards call of duty there is 2 editons one for xbox one/x and then a multi version as the other wont work on the new series x ! why is this and does this mean my 200 or so library games i have wont be playable from day one on the series x ?

I've been using game pass for PC and am quite ready to buy into Xbox generally after being ps4 since 2013. Just need to wait for prices really. Realistically I think 500 for the console and 20pm is my limit. May have to rethink otherwise. May also depend on cross play with PC.

Youve misread the CoD bit somewhere. The Xbox One version will work on Series X, just like every other Xbox One game. It just won't have the Series X enhancements. Alternatively, there's a more expensive "Smart Delivery" style version that gives you the Xbox One version and the enhanced Series X version.

This is what I have done. I suppose others don't have that luxury.
People who can't set aside £600 for a console should probably be prioritising other things anyhow.

And I don't mean that as a mick take. Just that if you're living hand-to-mouth why on Earth would be looking at buying a next-gen console anyhow. Even if it's "for the kids", they need to learn about priorities too :p
