There is a 60fps performance mode but it looses quite a bit of the detail. The 40fps balanced mode with unlocked frame rate is what I’m using it’s a bit juddery but I’m getting used to it now so not as bad.
I've not bothered with the premium upgrade for this one, still need to finish Indy so will check it out when it comes to game pass next week.

Just ordered a refurb Series S from Microsoft for £170 - with working from home I'm less inclined to then continue at my desk to play PC games these days and if I do, it's only strategy/simulations that I play on it.

Had a PS4 for 5 years or so but never really used it for much more than media consumption and a few disc based games - tried out Playstation Plus a couple of times but it never seemed as good value as Game Pass.

Will just buy a 3 month ultimate pass to start with. I'm hoping GTA 6 plays decently on it. Considering how many platforms V ended up on, I'm optimistic.

What would people recommend me to play?

I would check out Game Pass for sure. The new Halo is great fun and the Gears games are all worth a play through.

How many of you use your Xbox as your only DVD/Blu-ray/4k Blu-ray player? From the looks of things it seems like new consoles either won't have an optical drive or you'll have to buy one as an addon. I'm curious if there is any advantage to getting a dedicated player or just hope the next Xbox also has an optical drive.

I'd by a dedicated one if you are into 4K Blu-rays to any level. As far as the bells and whistles, both the XBOX Series X and PS5 lack a lot of the feature a dedicated 4K Blu-ray player has.

Sold my Xbox Series X. Microsoft doesn't know what they are anymore? Not happy with what they are doing.
It's impossible to leave the ecosystem, as everything is an Xbox now ... didn't ya know ? ;)

Seriously, though, I know where you're coming from ... I sold mine, too. Don't regret it one bit.

I've not been playing many games lately but Indiana Jones really inspired and rekindled me. Quite enjoying Avowed. It's not AA but it's fun and I think will keep me occupied for a while.

Looking ahead, I've kind of feel that 360 vibe where the community went from one game to the next. We have Atomfall end of March, then South of Midnight, then Expedition 33 in April then Doom. Think I might just focus on Game pass for a bit.

I use PS5 and X Box Series X for media playback of 4K videos and Blu rays etc.

The experts state that Xbox Series X is not as good as the PS5 for playback. The Series X appears to not play frames at a true 24 frames per second, and cannot match the PS5 for colour grading.

However, they both seem fine to me. But I am not a professional reviewer.

Series X drive is noisy during playback, PS5 player is less noisy.

A dedicated player, if a quality unit, will beat both consoles.

I haven't had a dedicated Blu-ray / DVD player for quite a few years. I've a cinema room set up with projector and amp and I'm happily still using an Xbox One. In my lounge I use a series X or PS4 Pro and I can't really tell any difference.

Thank you. Useful information.
