XCOM 2: War of the Chosen

I wouldn't, this adds lots of extra complexity and fires loads of new stuff at you early in the campaign

I'd get used to how the standard game works first.

Is there a lot of new stuff? I'm guessing by the price there must be.

Does the new stuff work? The base game was pretty great apart from the stuttering issues.

If you can get it cheap, then maybe.

Now War of the Chosen is out though, the old DLC seems like such minor additions.

Shens last gift is 2GB and War of the Chosen is 30GB....

A question to anyone with the Alien Hunters DLC enabled, who are playing the War of the Chosen campaign.

I think I wasted about 10 days researching the Alien Hunter weapons quite early on, and when the research completed they weren't available in either my inventory or to build in Engineering.

Are they a proving ground project? I'm confused. Usually I find the pistol and axe quite useful.

They're in the Proving Ground, I believe.

Ah cheers.

Haven't got that far yet, building and excavation seems to take forever because there's so many events happening. I've only got a Guerilla Tactics room and Resistance Ring so far.

Covert ops are pretty cool actually. I had a nightmare one with two guys having to extract with both 'The Lost' and Advent were on the scene.

Forgot how slow the pace was in this game, two to three hours more played and very little progress to show for it.

Although I did just rescue NOX which turned into an interesting mission. I had an opportunity to use that thing ( I forgot the name) on an officer and had to kill an Avatar while escaping with three rookie soldiers carrying Nox with almost constant reinforcements coming in for the enemy every turn.

Thankfully two of them were snipers and the little turd couldn't disable pistols so just focused on the Avatar and just about made it to the evac with everyone alive.. :D

Noticed a new psionics version of the Advent soldier appear towards the end.

I like the RNG some times :P

The Assassin chosen, popped in my under ground mission. She came close to my troops and spotted her by accident.
So my ranger shoots her with the new magnetic shotgun, and pulled the 5% executioner trigger from the gun mod outright killing her :P

hahahah

^^

The worst addition to the game. Trash talking every turn they are more like supervillans than elite aliens.

Very dissapointing. Just kills the immersion and is extremely annoying.

Other than that, its very good so far.

Have you noticed the Star Trek actors in the game ? Could tell which ones really early on.

Denise Crosby (Skirmishers)
Jonathan Frakes (Volk)
Marini Sirtis (Elena The Reaper)
Michael Dorn (Mox)

Marini Sirtis is pretty different more agressive but Michael Dorn definitely keeps slipping back into Worf and Jonathan Frakes also slips into Commander Riker a couple of times.

Did the developers crank up the difficulty for WoC?

Playing on Vetern as I did for the standard game and LW2 and I'm really struggling.

VIP rescue mission with a corporal, 2 squaddies and a rookie. Starting weapons and armour. Up against 2 Advent Mechs, stunlancers, a viper and then one of the Chosen joins the fun.

Squad wiped.
