XCOM : Enemy Unknown - by Firaxis Games - Thread

Have to say just played my first proper mission and that was a lot of fun, very intense but loved it. Naming your team mates makes a huge difference - keeping the wife alive is always a good thing :)

God my bum is sore ;), that's a fair few hours in one go.
Ironman is harrrrddddd even in normal, although research and build que is essential to get right, if you can get them right then it should be soooo much easier. Laser rifles are soooo much better.

Think I might have to start again :(, I can't get enough alloy, I think you only get that by downing ships and doing the mission and I think the only way to detect ships is with Satelites? Which I haven't built

It can all be blamed on UK high street stores.

Yeah I was Googling and this is the accepted reason. It's done so brick and mortar resellers don't get angry. And for some reason, those retail chains historically release on Teusday in the US, and Friday everywhere else.

So digital distribution has to match their release dates.

The day when we all buy digitally can't come soon enough. For us, for the developers, and for cutting out the middle man (distribution chains, where a large % of the retail price ends up).

Yeah percentages can suck and at the same time can be awesome. Nothing better than lining up with a <20% chance and taking the critter down. My wife appears to be doing remarkably well and is now a Sergeant :)

Classic Ironman.
No, not the tutorial. I skipped that as I played the demo.

Its annoying as my squad cant seem to hit a barn door.

That sounds about right for the original from memory...

I can remember some of my squad a few levels along on the original still barely managing to hit a barn door, with a shot gun, when they were standing with their nose pressed against it.

I'm on a business trip to Chicago and decided to load steam, guess what, X-Com can now be played....

Honest....
