XCOM : Enemy Unknown - by Firaxis Games - Thread

looks a whole lot more cartoony than the gritty visuals of the original. personally that style doesn't appeal to me as much.

I hate pre-orders :/ If I knew (somehow) that the game would be any good, I'd order it in a heartbeat. But there is always the possibility that it will disappoint (like the After-series).

The pre-order bonuses aren't even all that great, tbh.

Nah, I think I'm going to have to play a demo of this one before handing over my dosh. It's the only way to be sure...

Really want it to be a great and worthy sequel... but I'm also pretty skeptical and just don't want to be hurt again :(, so I'll just have to wait and see..

Best game ever, will never forget when I finally made it to Mars, had 3 guys left and only the main control room to take, and an alien decides to kill us all with a blasterlauncher down from the lift in the main control room and kills us all.

Good times.

I first experienced XCOM Enemy Unknown on the Playstation 1 as I didn't have a PC back then.
I still have it too and would think it might be quite rare now as it isn't really the sort of game you would get on a console.

The art direction really isn't my bag and I just can't see this being faithful to the original, I'm on the fence until I see some reviews.

*but obviously want it to be great

Have you seen the game play videos. It follows the originals perfectly in game play, obviously with added features as technology moves on.

I'm not sure it does, this has smaller squads, what appear like smaller play areas and infantile graphics.
