The medals are pretty cool.

I am close to starting a new game tbh, as I have already lost one country, and have no money!

Btw, when you do the tutorial, are you always only allowed to pick between Europe and America for your base?

Which tutorial ? The one for people completely new to XCOM, or for the new Meld mechanic ? I haven't re-tried the former, but I was able to select all the continents for the latter.

I am talking about the main tutorial for the game. I had never played through it before, and tbh, I thought it was pretty bad. Far too restricting, and a bit long, and I was surprised that I only had America or Europe to choose from.

Getting horrible freezing before each audio clip is played, like if a guy is talking, it freezes before it plays the sound. Redoing Enemy Unknown even though I've already done it and it never did this before.

Edit: Turns out, the game does not like a 5400 RPM drive. Shifted it to my SSD and it's flawless.

Does anyone fancy some games on this? Steam is in the sig, wouldn't mind a few as matchmaking is taking a while and most players are running around with two high cost units (usually mechs) who get slaughtered, which isn't fun.

Gah! Mines crashing now and I can't get back in. It keeps freezing on the main menu. I've shut it down and tried it again. And again. :/

X:EU was full of bugs (and crashes) at release. Many never got patched, and were met by a wall of silence from the devs. I was there, the forums were full of people who couldn't play the game at all, or for more than a few minutes, without game-breaking bugs.

Why am I not surprised that the expansion is also full of bugs (and crashes)?

Firaxis have really let their QA to go crap.

This game is crashing constantly. I haven't been able to complete even 1 mission without it freezing up. Mostly happens when a cut scene either starts or ends. Both in the normal game and in the tutorial.
Going to try Enermy Unkown on its own now, just to see if that's been effected by one of the updates for it that have been massive the last day or two.
At the moment I'm in the process of reinstalling both EU and EW from scratch.

I haven't had a single crash but have noticed the game is more power hungry than before. Had to tone some settings down. Have you guys who're experiencing problems tried fiddling with the options?

I checked the integrity via steam, found an error and it downloaded a new file and it's fixed it

Reinstall worked. Haven't had a single crash since then.

Not had a chance to play XCom within yet have completed XCom enemy unknown few months ago that crashed to many times for my liking don't want it doing the same with the DLC.
Think I will just keep to hard for first play through with within.

I have been playing classic ironman and its so so much harder than I remember. Think getting meld is essential in the first month as if you don't I find that thinmen just rip you to bits.

Think I have restarted over 10 times so far? Enjoying it but its certainly a challenge!

Just had my first run in with the squiddies. :eek:

While dealing with those I lost both my trainee rookies to a Floater/Sectoid ambush. You really have to think through each move and plan each engagement. Though no amount of planning can account for your suppressing fire heavy getting nailed by the bad guy he was supposedly suppressing.

Just got my first MEC Trooper and completely screwed up my choice of Soldier and the MEC Suit options.

Used my top Assaulter and the Close Combat Specialist perk isn't carried over which is a huge loss as it saved her and rest of squad numerous times.

Choose the Flamethrower over the Kinetic Strike which was another big mistake as not only is the Flamethrower useless against robotic enemies, it comes with a movement penalty.

I've bought Enemy Unknown (had it on Steam for about a year), but never been inclined to install and play it.

I wasted years playing the original - how does it compare?
