Xenoblade Chronicles

How did you get on with gem crafting? I seemed to have ignored it upto this point! :p

It's not really that important tbh, i only crafted a handful of gems. Keep an eye on the stuff you pick up as once in a blue moon you'll pick up something rare such as mask ability which is a godsend for the rather damage prone shulk; it means you can whack away without drawing aggro as long as someone like Reyn/Dunban is in the party.

that would help so much, finding that I pull aggro off of Reyn very quickly at the start of fights.

When i find that happening i make shulk use shadow arts. This reduces aggro significantly and gives you a one time get out of jail free card.

When shadow arts is regenerating i just use normal attacks to build up Monado gauge; abilities like speed and normal attacks don't draw much aggro so it means you can still buff Reyn to keep him from harm. Once shadow arts is usable again i then use back attack etc until aggro gets too high. Never underestimate the importance of just slowly chipping away with normal attacks to build the Monado up, the speed and shield skills are essential to winning. There's also several very useful abilities you are yet to learn that you will often need to be up 100% of the time in order to win. Against the final boss for example i know i would have lost if i let one of the later abilities go down for more than a couple of seconds.

fair enough, I must admit this game is so enjoyable I find myself unable to stop playing!

I'm about 30 hours in and I know there is so much more to come! :D

This was easily one of my favourite games of the last few years, my evenings feel empty now that I have completed it :(

I'm trying out the end game content. There's loads of it! I really want to see if there's more to these giants treasure quests that you could do earlier in the game. I've got two of the three keys and i've found the door to the giants tomb, i just need to figure out where this third key is!

I'm also curious as to what's behind the High Entia door at Eryth Sea. Oh and the locked Library in Valak Mountains. Oooo and the locked door in the Tephra Cave.

Yep, still lots to do.

Well I've just gotten to Eryth sea at 42 hours in. There is so much to do in this game it's unbelievable! Gotten most of colony 6 to 2nd stage rebuilt and just fended off the me hon invasion team! ;)

Eryth sea is massive atm I'm swimming around trying to discover everywhere before moving on. This game was money well spent!

Not even half way to the end of the storyline either.

The endgame content is immense, i'm reckoning there's still a good 20-30 hours left in it.

Well now that work has calmed down I'm able to start giving this some time again.

I've just gotten up to the quest that Melia ahs been given. Although I'm feeling a bit over levelled atm, I'm 46 and everything I'm fighting is about 35ish...

Aye that happens if you do all the sidequests, i was overlevelled for the vast majority of the game. However around 75% through the enemies take a massive level jump and the number of sidequests drops dramatically so being overlevelled became a huge blessing.

They also start dotting some REALLY tough named monsters about soon, again being overlevelled means you don't have to backtrack for them later. There was one that took me a good 10 attempts to get, despite being overlevelled. I'd have hated having to grind just to take him on.

Bought a Wii, mainly just for this and I'm really disappointed. After playing Tales of Symphonia on my Gamecube for hours on end until I finished it, and not being able to really get into Tales of Vesparia I thought this was the ONE to give me the experience I had playing Tales of Symphonia.

Not so. The battle system is not to my taste, getting the hang of chains is just too much hard work. The characters are just the stereotypical JRPG ones, the graphics are no where near as good as I was lead to believe( the characters faces are crap at best).

Side quests garbage, as are the collectibles scattered all over the place.

Waste of a lot of money, unless Resident Evil 4 does turn out to be better then the Gamecube classic using the remote... I shall see. Got Zelda and Monster Hunter too, as well as Chrono Trigger (over the moon with this on the big screen).

Thumbs down for this title from me.

Have you actually given the game a chance? There's significant battle mechanics that don't even get introduced until 5-10 hours into the game. The final party character doesn't join until 50 hours in.

This is a massive game, but because of that a bit more patience is required before it pays off. Loads of reviews have said the same.

Did you fight the dragon yet?
