Xenoblade Chronicles

I'm about 20 or so hours in now and the game just keeps getting better and better, easily one of my favourite RPGs.

This.

About 5 hours in and so people who have it will know what just happened in game.

All of a sudden I have found myself totally engrossed by this game. Now I regularly have had three party members, the battle system has started to make sense to me and has opened up. There are still functions of the game that I am still 100% on however it is starting to make sense. Would mind a pause function though.

I can see this game turning into one of my favourite RPGs for a while.

The systems in the game work quite well and for a Wii it doesn't look too bad. However, the characters are pretty lame and the story is a bit un-interesting. The game world and game systems, as mentioned, are very good.

If you've stopped playing your Wii because the games are terrible and you remotely enjoyed any SNES/PS1 era RPG then try Xenoblade.

I dis-agree though it does depend on what ticks your boxes in terms of story. That said I am only 6 hours in and you could be further and maybe it looses momentum.

The characters and story are certainly better than the last party RPG I played - Dragon Age 2. Look there for lame story and characters..... and general alround lameness actually tbh.

+1

Don't worry about it losing momentum, the story continues to develop, they keep throwing twists and changes at you and of course more awesome cutscenes.

Must say I'm lofing this game, just got the sword although im trying to find the last 2 things on the collector thing and can't seem to find it! :'(

It's nice to have a game with some longevity, I'm around 28 hours in and I don't think I'm even close to the end, and that's without really doing a ton of the side quests, this game could easily last you 80+ hours if you really want to do everything.

That last story looks good too.

Yep, made by the creator of Final Fantasy, and Nobuo Uematsu does the soundtrack, so expect it to be good. It has gotten 38/40 in Famitsu's review.

So you have The Last Story and also Pandora's Tower coming later on. The Wii is getting some very good JRPG love before the Wii-U comes out.

Okay, have been running around colony 9 forever in the day and night and cannot find any 'Light Skeeters' to kill for the Monster Quest 3 - Part 4. I have unlocked all of colony 9 map have have never seen one. Could anyone give me a pointer?

The Skeeters are the flying things and they are always out during the day I think. Aren't they located just outside the city or are those a different variety?

Turned the Wii on for the first time in about 3 years to play this. Enjoying it so far although I'm only a few hours in. Off work tomorrow and looking forward to getting stuck in to it.
Definitely gonna be picking up The Last Story as I love Sakaguchi's stuff.
Also found out Chrono Trigger is on the Virtual Console so my Wii is actually gonna get used a bit! Good times.

Cheers. Actually found them about 10 mins after posting this.

I had spent ages looking for them. Starting to take a note of the conversations now as there are details in there which do not transfer to the quest log. Bit rubbish really as if you leave the game for a while and have to come back to a quest, you have to remember where the person/monster is and what time of day/night they appear. Would be helpful if that was logged somewhere.
