Xfi Audio

wont these x-fi be old when creative bring out the x-fi2 versions this year to support vista

But all the current cards fully support OpenAL so why would they bother doing that

I can't find a single bit of info about an X-Fi2 card.

whats your hardware
the x-fi dont like nvidia chip mobos amoung other things
had same prob with my abit av8 3eye mobo, wouldnt boot, had to return the music version

First I ever heard of it!

I'm running a asus a8n32 sli mobo with 7950GT 512MB and a x2 4200+ cpu - not had a single crash yet even though I've encountered some xfi mode changer (3rd party util) bugs with regards to it hanging previously (reported by many on the xfmc discussion board) and not letting the audio console load!*

*this was fixed by simply closing the task process and reloading though :p

a lot of people work ok for and a lot of people i didnt
x-fi 's caused diffent probs for different users, all over forums everywhere, even here
some say was earlier versions, was mostly with music version, why, who knows,a lot of theorys out there
bottom line
x-fi's sound cards for reasons are hit or miss if work ok,with me,the music version didnt allow my older system to boot[fact]but in audigy 4,worked
tryed on different system,same problem
contacted creative, there answer its not our music sound card, said its my hardware that work ,so have lost faith in creative[fact]

Occasionally when the computer is booted up, it forgets the x-fi is there, detects a multimedia card but cant install it

A reboot fixes that, but thats just me wanting to run both at same time. If you disable the onboard its fine.

Its hard to explain the differences. Ive got a Creative 5.1 kit, quite old, and the sounds are just clearer and thats just playing music etc. My speakers arent setup for full surround sound yet so Ive not tested the games, but i can still hear the clarity difference

Quick note, dont get the latest drivers...it forces the centre speaker through the sub for some reason
how do you find the xtreme x-fi gamer card
looking at it or fatal1y version

They all do, but not much known about the xtreme audio which is just a rehashed audigy card from what has been said here.

WHatever is fitting in your price tbh. Because I may SLi in the future I wanted a slim card but one that's good too, the xfi gamer is slim and uses the full xfi processor so I was happy!

Outside the 64 x-ram on fatal1y card,is there any other difference between the fatal1y card and xtreme gamer card
do you still get game modes in gamers card like fatal1y
would i notice a difference between my audiy4 and either card
cheers
