Xfi Audio

not had an audigy 4 or heard one either but people who went from audigy to x-fi have noted differences.

My Fata1ty turned up today very nice well pleased with it.

It sounds great and no probs with my 680i motherboard.

Did upgrade the drivers though to get OpenAL support.

No, it is not openal to support vista. I recommend you hold off until we

drivers, not card...

You cant have a card the supports opanal in xp but not vista at a hardware level - think about it!

if the fatal1y version does ,so should the gamer version
just got another e-mail saying creative will be releasing drivers to support openal fully in vista in due course

I said the gamer (as well as every other proper xfi card) supports openal...it's *** drivers that need updating for VISTA to support it and since you need a card that supports it and drivers to us eit in vista...hence the drivers that require an update for vista not the card itself.

HAD THAT question posted to creative before posting here few days ago
they are only answering what i have found out here and another forum
all creative is doing is confirming it
the first reply from creative was misleading, which i knew as read specs on it site
last e-mail from creative said its new drivers when released will address issues with drivers already out ,as i dont use vista yet, dont know what these issues are, expect are small

The Xtreme Music card is fine for everything, gawd knows why they only do it in an OEM version now?!

It supports OpenAL, has every Dolby feature, all the software, everything! The only thing it doesn't have is the RAM like the Fatality card, or the better DAC's like the top of the range Elite model.

I'm still confused as to what the difference between the Music and Gamer version is?

Ya, dunno about the "xtreme audio" though, rofl.

Do you mean the Xtreme Music? If so, it does support OpenAL.

mrk said:
They all do, but not much known about the xtreme audio which is just a rehashed audigy card from what has been said here.

Again, do you mean the Xtreme Music version. If so, it's nothing like the Audigy card.

If you mean a different card, I apologise for mis-understanding.

Just saw the link on the first page, you were indeed talking about yet another card to be released under the X-Fi name. :) Talk about confusion!

Yep, only 1 person in the thread knows what I was talking about lol
I just wondered how it compared, the link moody gave doesnt seem to work. I guess its fine for windows but doesnt really work in games?
Though EAX in software is probably fine with the cpu power we have nowadays

It wouldn't be ideal though with EA and UBIsoft bringint out PC games these days which seem to break down even the mighty c2d/a64 x2/fx55 chips!

I havent really seen that yet though and by the time it happens they'll be even more power available. Theres 4 core now, 8 core soon and 32 core by the end of the decade apparently

Cool that worked thanks
