** XFX RETURNS: WITH SPECIAL RMA TERMS FOR OcUK CUSTOMERS & INCREDIBLE DEALS!! **

@ Gibbo

No R9 290x? or is the range likely to expand.

Also

Some OCUK reviews on these cards be nice :)

we have had a r9 280x here with the cooler in the pictures above. very quiet and well built.

it performs like any other 280x and is quiet as you can realistically be for a 2 fan cooler.

decent stuff in my opinion but then, I have always liked xfx.

Their CS has improved compared to the horror stories I've heard.

Recently RMA'd a two and a half year power supply. It was collected for free and I was given a full refund in less than two weeks.

Also received quick responses within a day from the support tickets too.

Dam, thats some serious warranty terms! Good work

Can you explain "48hr Advanced RMA swap out service by OcUK" ?

Hi there

Upon us receiving your card back and it checking out as faulty, we send you a brand new replacement that same day or following day. :)

Review and user feedback seem to imply the VRM temp can hit crazy high on the XFX 290 DD when gaming vrm1 temp hitting 128C when playing Crysis 3)...does the card actually have sinks on the vrms?

Finally XFX care to improve their CS! good news! Adding another choice of manufacturer to the list for someone in the market. And yes this batboy looks sexy. Win win

If you think about it XFX have not done a thing to improve their customer care they are leaving it up to OCUK to deal with which is not a bad thing at all. :)

In fairness they had to agree to our terms to enable such a service to you guys. :)

In fairness the failure rate of modern GPU's is pretty damn small.

Safe to say it's a low risk scenario for both of you.

..still, it's nice to know the option is there just in case.

@Gibbo

If only you could "Push" all Non UK Based Manufactures / Manufactures whos RMA timescales fall outside of a 7-14 day turn around to "Agree to special Terms".

TBH ocuk go above and beyond with rmas for people even when they dont have to they have taken over the process to get the customer sorted.

Are these 290's ones that have the fixed thermal issues on VRM1? There are some problems with VRM temps on the original DD 290 and 290X cards reported on HardForum, some going beyond 120 degrees, and XFX said they were aware of the issue and in the process of fixing it. Something to do with thermal interface near the DVI port or whatever. This causes powetune 2.0 to throttle the card and lose performance over extended periods. Frankly the price is so good I'd buy two, but I've owned 2 DD 7970's in the past and they also had severe VRM issues.

Has it been fixed, or is this the reason the card is so cheap?

The card is cheap because I am a good buyer, the stock is the same as the rest of the channel is selling for £20-£40 more.

Once our stock lands, we shall be increasing pricing to pricing to be competitive in the channel, not silly. :)
