Hi,

I will probably get flamed, called a hacker blah blah blah here.
But for those that are interested the Xim3 is out on Monday.

For those that dont know what it is, it is a Xbox Input Machine. It allows you to use for example a Keyboard and Mouse, steering wheel, basically any USB device is possible to use in time.

Now i know there are a lot of these kind of products out there but the Xim is different, the translation required to make a mouse feel like a mouse on a PC is far more complex than what a XFPS or penguin united product can do. The Xim however can. It uses new Smart translators and user definable standard configs. The Smart translators are made by the creator which give 1 on 1 mouse movement.

Now to the people who say its cheating, i personally want the play my games the way i want to play them. I am old school and prefer a keyboard and mouse as thats what i feel most comfortable with and i dont feel i have an advantage at all. I have friends that can bounce all over the place in halo and take my eye out with the sniper rifle, yet if i gave them a keyboard and mouse they would be an epic fail.

Your thoughts and opinions please :)

Would you buy one?
Would you not buy because you would be at a disadvantage to your controller play?
Would you not buy one because you think its unfair/cheating?

For those more interested www.xim3.com

So can I actually buy one from Monday?

I click on the shop and it's not letting me order/buy. If it was out monday you would think they would take pre-orders?

no they did a soft launch and the shop got mashed up, basically they had 400-500 orders within minutes of the shop going live. They are sorting out bigger servers and bandwith for monday re-launch lol.

I have already asked for G27 to be available. There is a list of wanted devices on there forums and G27 is high up in the rankings i believe.

i paid $219 then you'll have to pay vat @ 20% when it hits customs. I chose the most expensive P&P and insurance though.
$149 for the unit itself

If you're so old school you'd be playing games on PC and mostly be playing CS, UT99/2004 and Quake. Not using a device to give you an unfair advantage on console games that already have aim assist.

I have friends that can bounce all over the place in halo and take my eye out with the sniper rifle, yet if i gave them a keyboard and mouse they would be an epic fail.

Irrelevant. Consoles are designed with a controller in mind unless the game specifically allows the seperation of those with pads and those with keyboards and mice. (UT3 on PS3 for example)

So really, you just want an unfair advantage over those using stock controllers because you suck. I'm sure you'd be just as garbage if you went on PC and used keyboard + mouse against those also using that control method.

and I'm not an angry console gamer, I don't play any FPS on a console online because I prefer mouse and keyboard. While knowing I'm not possessing an unfair advantage over others.

lol the flaming begins. I used to play all those titles and played competitively. I dont anymore so i do it as social thing with mates. Everyone has xbox's these days rather than a PC. I prefer to play with a KB and Mouse and will.

And where did i moan? and why should i waste my time getting used to controllers when i have this option available to me?

Yeah a couple of my mates got in on the soft launch the rest will be ordering on Monday. They are going to be out of stock very fast by the sounds of it. Looks like an incredible product for those wanting mouse and keyboard. Enjoy!

to answer the OP question no i i wouldnt buy one as personally i think its cheating, yes its only a different controller that you prefer but its no different to me then somebody prefering to play with an aimbot, the games are not designed to play with a KB & mouse setup.

the accuracy of a mouse + the aim assist created to help with the inaccuracy of a controller is a massivly unfair advantage... atleast have the decency to set your clantag as XIM3 or somthing to give people the option of if they want to play against someone who cares so much about winning your willing to pay >$200 extra

i have no problem with people buying them and using them though as im a PS3 user which is far from without its problems but im happy where i am.

please note this isnt flaming you asked for people opinions

hmm great, I don't really agree with them being used, especially with FPS, users will have a huge advantage!

You're pretty much just as bad as them 14 year old geeks that buy rapid fire controllers for Call of Duty.

If you want to pay for an unfair advantage because you can't use a pad then do whatever you like. I wouldn't feel particularly great going on a killing spree knowing I've clearly got a HUGE advantage over the other players as XIM users will be in the minority by far.

I can see both sides points. you have a huge advantage if you have a better connection on the 360. When they tried to balance that up on Black ops, those that had the unfair host advantage before cried.

The you get the argument that this is not what MS intended etc.
Yet these same people are in the PS3 hack threads telling you that once they have bought hardware they should be free to do what they want with it and when you restrict hardware it's great when 'developers' open up the console for other uses.

Theres so many advantages on P2P gaming with connection that I don't see this being as big a problem as people think and won't be purchased by that many people. I don't see it as being as widespread as the cheating that's already happened on both systems.

Couldn't care less really, but I would like to try one so I could see for a fact how it influenced my gaming rather than just guess. I was crap with a KB and M anyway :D

I don't play online games enough to really care whether people buy it or not. I wouldn't go so far as to say its cheating but its definitely gaining a huge advantage. To me its like 2 equally talented football teams playing against each other and one team is wearing slip on shoes. The difference will be the equipment, not talent alone.

If enough people buy this device it may have a massive negative effect on console gaming in the future, unless of course MS and Sony make keyboard and mouse support native for games to address this.

As I said, cheating? No. Gaining an advantage, a big YES.
