XIM3 round the corner (mouse and keyboard support)

Actually mate, forget what I said

No problem. :p <3

Nexus can you provide a link please to the forum. This tech has alwasy interested me :)

I think people should be wary of posting a link, as there's a lot of swearies and no filters, the mods don't like that much do they?

If you search their forums for "overclockers" it's easy enough to find. :)

Hi Guys, big PC gamer here who now plays shooters on the Xbox which is a breath of fresh air since I no longer have to worry about aimbots, wall hacks or any of the other type that is constantly dealt with in PC shooters.

A couple of comments, first this article is frequently used as "proof" that they M/K player is superior to the controller player : http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/ms-killed-pc-xbox-cross-platform-play However anyone familiar with the test knows that the console players were not gaming on a console, they were given controllers connected to a PC and played against other PC players and had them play each other, not a fair test. That would be like giving Cricket players a cricket bat them putting them in a Baseball field and expecting it to be a fair test (or a baseball bat and putting the player on a cricket field, both hit a ball, but each do it differently.) The test did not have the xbox players on an actual xbox.

Second, can you tell which is the Controller player and which is the XiM user:

Or

I am a XiM user, it has made the console playable for me, but I am an average player at best on Xbox live. I have had good game, and poor games. This did not make me a god at the game and it will not make anyone such. Knowing the maps, knowing how the average person reacts is how you get good at the game, the type of peripheral you use for control does not make you a beast at the game.

To answer this question:

I do see the point that they won't answer why it won't allow itself to be detected by MS and this does suggest that it's a cheat - a decent tech cheat but still a cheat.

If you actually read up on the XiM, you will see that Obs1v is trying to get it certified by MS, at the same time there are MANY controllers out there that are not certified by MS.

The xim has the same limits as the controller, it will not turn any faster than a controller can.

hi guys, i will be buying a xim3 because i dont have a right thumb so this will help me out a lot.

Technobabble and banter aside I want to ask you all one question--

If I suck with a gamepad on a console, why should I be forced to deal with that? I don't enjoy getting annihilated by savvy 12 year olds who operate them as if they were born together.

Essentially all the hater arguments here suggest that because I suck with a control pad, too bad. Should I quit playing the game because I'm inadequate with the control mechanism? That's hardly fair.

So what if using XIM allows me to be competitive? 99.9% of you wouldn't know the difference if we played.

No, we probably wouldnt. We'd take you for an elite pad player. Which is kind of the problem. We all start off crap, we all get better. XIM3 is taking a short cut to the top. It's playing the game as it isnt intended to be played, with a controller that unbalances the game.

It doesn't though, knowing the maps, knowing the reactions of most players, and practice makes you an elite player, no matter what you use.

I have been using the XiM2 for about 2 years now, look at my stats (RangerLee) I am an average player. BF:BC2 is my favorite game, and I am a middle of the road player, I like to think above average in that game, and at most average in CoD Black ops.

In a few months, when it is not news, most will forget this is even out there and will not know the difference.

Check out the videos I posted above and tell me who is the Mouse and Keyboard user.

Yes.

There is a perfectly good gaming platform that lets you use your mouse and keyboard against a whole host of people using their mouse and keyboard.

Go and use that.

The PC doesn't have Halo 3 and Halo Reach. Those are the only two games I play on a console. In fact, those are the only two games I play *at all*

My enjoyment of the game hits a plateau when my skills do. I don't see why I should be forced to forever be a level 20 (in Halo 3 for example) when I could be a level 50 utilizing XIM.

I don't think that the game tomorrow will be unbalanced (only by lag unfortunately) as I can use level 7 happily with a pad and spin around and aim in a heartbeat.

The match will be recorded so you guys can watch afterwards.

Toys has a 2+KDR and a 2+WL (I am assuming that the majority of this has been gained from FFA) with a 15% accuracy now I thought that the Xim according to most posts in this thread gives ubber aiming abilities so surely his accuracy should be much higher than that, this just confirms his post about how the system works quite nicely.

There has got to be some irony in this post somewhere. Going on about pc cheating with wall hacks etc, then he goes on to say he uses a xim on the xbox.

It may not make you turn any quicker, but it's vastly more accurate.

Thing is, people are saying the XIM2 isn't an unfair advantage and that they're on par. I'm willing to accept that as all the documentation i've read says 'good, but not perfect'.

This thread was started about the XIM3 though, something that the developer himself has said is superior to the XIM2. He keeps harping on about 'precision' being key. Now, if people are saying that the XIM2 is equal with the pad, and that the XIM3 will be better... see where i'm going with this?

Bingo Spunkymonky (great name); it does not make you more accurate than someone who is good with the controller, it just makes the console playable for those who can not use a controller.

I have my own business, wife and two kids, I do not have the time to dedicate to becoming good with a controller, growing with with a M/K, it is what I like, and now shooters are playable with the XiM,that is all. There will not be an Army of XiM users dominating the leader boards out there.

The 13 year old son of my wife's friend still works me over when we play on the Xbox, he uses sensitivity 10 and a controller. He knows the maps and the habits of most players, not to mention all the spawn areas. No controller can change that.

Do you know what level I am on Halo 3?

I have no idea, because I game for fun rather than doing whatever it takes to get to the top. It's not your 'skills' that are taking you higher, it's your utilisation of an unbalanced control device to get an advantage over the competition.

an excellent excuse for cheating ! you dont have time to learn to play properly !

WoW just wow, no worries, I am done trying help you realize this is no different than a flight stick for a flight game. Have fun worrying if the guy killing you only did so because he used a mouse and keyboard.

Did you really have to post that?

It was getting quite a bit less heated in here and interesting.

I understand that you guys don't like it and you have made your opinion well known (as I did on the Bops Thread about the lag issues), can you now leave the thread to people who may have an interest(me)/want to purchase the device and wanted a little more info on the Subject.

Thank you.
