Xmas bonuses

I strongly beg to differ on that statement. It varies wildly from school to school and the quantity of work each individual teacher takes on, but trust me most teachers have it easy, too easy in fact!

I work in a teacher training university and I can say that teachers these days scare me. To get in it's academic but some "applicants" have no common sense but three A's. To be a teacher you need to be bright and outgoing.

I'd beg to differ on your statement, too.

"Teachers" don't have it one way or the other. My wife is an interim head of dept. and she barely gets a minute to wipe her butt in the evenings, let alone during the day. She's FOREVER working - marking, emailing, dealing with stuff, calling parents, logging this and that, lesson planning. Saturday is probably the only day in the week she legitimately has off, and even then she has to be brought out of the house to do so.

Then you just pray that another member of staff doesn't decide to call her mobile or there's another 40-60 minutes lost as they waffle on about policies, meetings or whatever while she struggles to get them to go away.

On the other hand, I'm sure there are plenty of teachers who only stay until the final bell and do the absolute minimum required during holidays, but do "Teachers" have it easy? Not in my experience.

My misses wont get a bonus, she is a teacher and gets the holiday/term time off but she is constantly working through that. People think teachers have it easy. They really dont ... :(

Yeah they do. I worked in a school for six years. :)

I don't get any bonus as I work for the Public Sector. Guess I'll just have to be smug about my final salary pension then... oh dear. :(

you sure your not living with my misses, sounds very similar ....

:p

It's not really a specific xmas bonus but yes, I'm getting one on 21st December - it's related to my performance marking (2nd highest mark). That's in addition to a one off performance related bonus I got in October and an organisational payment awarded in November (union to thank for the last one).

I'll using it for a holiday in Feb half term.

Never had a Xmas bonus ever. No chance of an annual bonus in April either. We haven't been in the positive all year. Then they reduced the over realistic target and we can't even reach that new lower target. Retail is fubar !!!

gosh...You mean she has to organise, talk to people, deal with politics and work long days... Sounds like a working day to me and I don't get 13 weeks holiday a year.. or a massively inflated pension...

Annual Pay rises = check
35 days annual leave = check

Right try the above, and then factor in the fact this happens in whats meant to be your OWN time.

I bet you get proper weekends and relaxation time. My misses certainly doesnt.

also 13 weeks HOLIDAY? Oh how deluded you are.

never had a xmas bonus ever
I imagine its quite nice to recieve one :(

had a annual bonus once (in april 2005), of £250

all they ever say is "that due to the credit crunch the company cannot give bonuses" even though my company made €1.69 billion last year :( :(

edit:
Bonus = nope
Overtime = nope
Flexi = nope
Annual Pay rises = nope
35 days annual leave = nope - 25
Final salary pension = no pension whatsoever yet - maybe next year but it wont be anything close to this

What's a Christmas bonus?.

I swear I keep working for cheapskates when It comes to bonus time - at least the regular pay is aright.

I've got all that with more days off excluding the bonus and no worries about my performance. So the cushy job is better than a bonus! :D :p
