Yamaha RS202D & Dali SPEKTOR 2 - need Bass

Richer Sounds were hopeless, with no stock. I'm struggling to find any of these models anywhere, some seem quite older models now so maybe EOL or maybe this is the usual Brexit/logistics issues?

If you see any anywhere and remember to link me that would be great, else I think I'm going to end up with a soundbar! :p

I'm liking the look of the Mono linked earlier tonight: https://www.monoprice.uk/products/m...tm_source=google&utm_campaign=Google Shopping

It's just within budget and should match the Spektors pretty closely in terms of finish. I see they do a free return service which is reassuring as I won't know if I like it until I hear and see it.

What cable would I use to link this to the Yamaha? I'm assuming I'll need to buy that separately.

Rca-rca.

You'll need a subwoofer with high level inputs. Your Yamaha lacks left/right precouts or subwoofer preout.

So either buy another sub, (bk have high level inputs) replace the Yamaha, or use a high level to low level converter.

Fair enough, I think it's time to hunt for a 5.1 or even 3.1 amp and just replace the Yamaha unit as it's restricting me too much. I could probably do with a unit that does HDMI input/output because another bug bear of the Yamaha is the need for Bluetooth or optical connections.

I'll get googling. :)

P.s. I'm heading back into Glasgow today so will see if I can get some recommendations for a 5.1 amp which is hopefully on Black Friday special. The only purchase I've put more time into was my watch that took me about 3 years to settle on (drove my wife nuts). :p

I'm considering pulling the trigger on Denon AVR-S660H - https://www.denon.com/en-gb/product/av-receivers/avr-s660h

It's bang on budget at £499 direct from Denon. I did consider the 6700H but I doubt that I will ever get into a setup that would do it justice; my finished article is likely to be 3 front speakers and a sub-woofer.

Just posting here in case anyone has any experience of that unit to say, NO! :)

By the way, mainstream retailers seem to be really struggling for stock - probably Brexit/Covid/Supply chain related.

Eventually!

I got a Denon S760H from Richer Sounds, finally managed to get one in stock. I haven't bought a subwoofer yet as I want to make sure the Denon is playing okay with my setup, else I'll send it back.

I could do with some assistance with the setup (no surprise there :)).

The first step is to get the TV apps e.g. iPlayer etc coming through the Denon but it doesn't seem possible with the way I have it set up. I've got the Denon linked to the HDMI 4 port in my TV which is Samsung UE55NU8000 because it says that's the ARC output. However, I'm not sure how to get the sound to the Denon? Am I going to be better hooking up an optical audio cable?

There's no manual with the Denon, which I think is really poor.

BTW, PS5 is working perfectly through the unit, it's just the ARC thing I'm struggling with.

Edit: I bought an optical cable and all works perfectly. :)

On my AVR X3400H it's the "TV Audio" input channel for ARC audio. I presume you've got the HDMI connected to the correct ARC HDMI port on the receiver? Shouldn't require any other tinkering unless there's something within the TV menus re output audio.

I think it's the TV at fault, but I have it working via Optical so I've got a workaround until I get the TV changed. :)
