I used to be on here when I had my 300A Celly that would do 450.
The pencil trick was used for joining bridges on AMD chips to get passed their lock. ;)
Takes me back it does (sigh) :p

Now I'm confused.
I was in the old shop 4 times a week and knew Pete very well.
I can remember when the Celeron 300's came in and he was bragging he'd got his hands on 300 of them and all of them could be OC'd to different speeds.
Millennium definitely didn't have a website in those days and SPIE wasn't on the scene.
There was only about 5 people in the shop - Pete, his dad (sometimes), his wife (sometimes) and a couple of lads (one who still works for OCUK).

Note that all he said was that he was on this forum when he had a Celeron 300A - he's not claiming that he actually bought it from OcUK or anything like that. That's perfectly plausible since he may well have kept that system for a year or two - theoretically we could still have people browsing the forum with 300As :)

FWIW I'd never heard of OcUK as an online store until 1999 and the Celeron 300A craze hit in the second half of 1998.

It was definitely pink when I rolled up in late 2000/early 2001.

I came acrosss the site looking for a spangly Thermaltake orb, and my first post was asking what the best bios for my KT7a-r was :D. I remember Werewolf being around back then, other mods included Fruity, Oranjeboom and Rebel if memory serves!

I never did get my Duron 700 stable at 1gig though :(

my 800 did 1gig stable on air, but only at stupid voltages, would keep cool as long as you didn't run anything.

I'm not trying to catch anybody out - I want to know for my own sake.

When they moved into the unit they have now, the 'big' processor was a 1 gig Athlon. I'd bought it from the corner unit, it failed and had to return it to the new unit (they were both open for a while). The guys behind the counter in the new shop didn't know me and tried to fob me off because I wanted a non clocked processor. I had to get Petes wife to sort them out and she told them to remember my face next time.

At this same time Pete was now in the new unit behind the desk (which wouldn't happen very often) and I saw this giant.
me - Who's that giant?
Pete - Thats Mark
me - A new worker?
Pete - No, he's my partner
me - I didn't know you wanted a partner, I would have put money in
Pete - Too late, he's going to do all the Internet side
me - About bloody time, you're the only shop around here without a web site.

Thats what it was like when I first joined, though it wasn't like that for long. I joined in Oct 2001.

I can vividly rememeber one thread title from that revison of the board.

"5-1 and its only half time LOL!".

I first joined when looking for advice on an AMD upgrade (late 2000 iirc). Think I eventually went for a 700 with EPoX 7KA board. Was really annoying trying to get the processor open to fit the GFD with a flat-head screwdriver.

Didn't get on with the overclocking or motherboard bugs either (it hated my SB Live! 1024). :(

I had my celly for about 8 months and I bought it from a fair. ;)
First chip I bought from here was a 1gig axia that went to 1.4 with a delta 60mm screamer. I came onto the forums in the early days and can remember Rotty's old sig, bejesus is it that long ago ;)
