I would agree with you that they were all against better oppo, but the only goal that I would say is better is the Ronaldo one where he ran from the half way line for Barcelona and beat five players or something (assuming thats the one you mean).NokkonWud said:Giggs against Arsenal (best defence in Europe that season)
Ronaldo against Fulham (amazingly strong team at home - 88th minute)
George Weah
Ronaldo
Maradonna
Not that special; went past about 2 players and the shot was deflected in, good goal but nowhere near as good as the others mentioned.NokkonWud said:Ronaldo against Fulham (amazingly strong team at home - 88th minute)

And your forgetting Barnes's goal vs Brazil (plus many more he got for Liverpool) and the Owen goal vs Argentina.
BaZ87 said:Messi is undoubtedly lazy; in the Liverpool games last year, both he and Ronny literally waited on the half way line every time we were on the attack..
Well if that is actually the case then the manager should be sacked, we knocked them out the cl because of there lazyness.Rezident said:I don't think he's lazy, I think he's ordered to stay up in attack by the manager. Same, last barca match I was at, himself and Roni never come back to defend, manager must reckon it's just not their job.
weringo said:Simply sublime from Messi, shame he's a cheat.
NokkonWud said:I already said I'd take Kaka out. I would definitely put Ramos at 5th then, he was awesome last season.
Ronaldo has improved incredibly every season, I dare say if he went to Spain he'd just end up embarassing people.

That was also the comments made by large sections of the Barcelona support at the start of the last season.Rezident said:Mate of ours who isn't really into football (he's a Leeds fan) came away with the impression that Ronaldinho is: "fat and he doesn't track back".
Punching a ball in the back of the net a'la Maradonna will get you labelled that. For all the greatness Maradonna had he is known by millions around the world for being a cheat. Messi is following the very same path, just with less ability.Jazz said:Depends on what your definition of cheat is really. I think you will find 99% of players 'cheat' in some way or another but I wouldn't go around calling every player a cheat. Some players have different beliefs, someone once said it is only cheating if you get caught
I don't doubt he will be in Spain in a couple of seasons. He doesn't owe us anything as it is. Fans of other football teams say this to rile us clearly, but it doesn't bother us .Jazz said:Last season he improved a hell of a lot as his performances showed but in the other seasons imo he had bee very hit and miss, once he got 'must show off before passing or shooting' thing out of his head he has turned alright eh. And yes he would do well in Spain, as you will see in a couple seasons time
Actually, up until the 05/06 season RVN did track back all the time and help, it's when he became 'lazy' that we sold him. As for Ronaldo, he's our quickest break, so we leave him forwards and clear our positions towards him as he's a good target man, however, Ronaldo does also help cover the overlap at RB when required.Jazz said:How often do players like C.Ronaldo, Henry or RvN get back to help and defend? Those two players are strikers not midfielders so they aren't required to defend, in an ideal world you would like them to help but much of Barca's deadly football comes when they can break quickly and those two are high up the pitch
Liverpool won because they played better, they got through on credit, not because the other team played poorly. Credit where it's due.Jazz said:You knocked them out because this season they didn't have that same desire of the previous season and your lot played well. That crisp passing, fluid movement and real desire to just keep scoring goals and destroying teams was gone. Had you played Barca with the same system and players a year earlier they would have beaten you as they were desperate for the CL and gave it their all.
NokkonWud said:I'd disagree.
For me, there are 5 wonderkids in the world.
1) Ronaldo
2) Kaka
3) Fabregas
4) Rooney
5) Messi
And yes, that's my order too.
So because others don't track back that makes it ok then?Jazz said:How often do players like C.Ronaldo, Henry or RvN get back to help and defend? Rubbish, they left players up-field expecting us to sit back and defend and we ended up controlling the midfield and took the game to them, with Finnan causing them lots of problems because of Ronaldinho not getting back and helping the fullback.Jazz said:You knocked them out because this season they didn't have that same desire of the previous season and your lot played well. NokkonWud said:Ronaldo DID cheat and DOES cheat for Portugal. However, for Man Utd he doesn't, last season his temprament was nothing short of outstanding. As I said, Man Utd do have cheats in the team, but Ronaldo isn't one of them.

I'm not a Man United fan and I know Ronaldo cleaned up his act this season. I think Fergie gave him a boot up the backside for it and he learnt to take the hits and not go down at every chance. He's still by no means an angel but if you're suggesting he hasn't improved his ways then you're wrong.
