--- Yewen Previews Antec Skeleton! ---

Whilst I wouldn't choose this case for my own use I see nothing wrong with Antec and Overclockers taking a flyer on an unusual design. I'm surprised by the passions it has evoked on this thread. Let's face it people our computers are toys, used to play fantasy games and assembing them is only marginally more complex than Lego. Let's stop taking our toys too seriously.:D

Antec design and manufacture cases as a business so their failure to complete the brief is not only unbelievable its quite funny too.

Since when are all computers toys? Sure there's the odd game but it's main use for me is as an HTPC/Photo editor.

I really want this case, but if I can't fit my Freezer64 then there's just no point. :(
There's only one word for Antec in this situation and I'd be suspended for using it. :D

Its still a toy though. Just like a new, fast car. Might actually be useful in getting you to work quicker/provide better ride comfort, but at the end of the day, its real purposes are superficial ones (looks nice, sounds nice, grabs attention).

Unless your HTPC was built on the most shoestring of budgets with regards to your needs and you didn't go a fraction of a £ over and its all exactly what you need, then some of it is excess. And excess is fun.

Not sure why people are comparing a computer to a toy, since if I bought a Buzz Lightyear and was only able to half get it out of the box, I'd still be sending it back.

Imagine how gutted you'd be if you spilled your tea on this ! I worry about the vents on the top of my case due to my hap-handedness. I admire antec for doing something slightly different, I think more companies should make more ambitious interesting cases.

I do love the fact that the first thing many people think when they see it is...
"What if I spilled tea on it!?"

Good to see we use our PCs primarily as coasters... :D

My HTPC was built to play movies and process pictures. Doesnt matter what the cost that's its job. Even if it was over budget that doesn't automatically mean excess is fun. Just because you say something doesn't mean that's the final word on the subject.

There are ways to twist anything written on a forum. Sticking to the facts a computer case isn't a toy.

I don't know. Myabe not for you in particular and computers aren't officially recognised as toys, but people are being way too serious over this product. At least they're slating it for what it is (a benchdesk) though, I guess.

In particular, computers purely used for benching are pretty useless objects. Its not like people need them (except maybe the odd, occassional reviewer, who wouldn't be using this case full time anyway).

Maybe this Antec case is just useless.

Because they are toys in essence. People who have (or think they have) 'serious uses' for computers aside; most people simply buy them for bragging rights. Obviously, they are very expensive toys that you don't want to arrive broken, but then, (with regards to this Antec case) that's the customer's choice. They know what they're getting (more or less) & they pay the money.

As I type there is still no statement on the item description page clearly warning you of the incompatabilities of the case with other hardware for sale on ocuk. There is one entry on the reviews tab which kind of mentions the issues, but bizzarely still gives the case 5 stars. OCuk should clearly spell out the issue and not rely on vague reviews that some people might not even read. I don't know about anyone else but I came across a case like this whilst browsing the site, without any prior knowledge of the problems, I might be forgiven for assuming the thing is going to work with my hardware unless it said otherwise on the description. So does the customer really know what they getting with this case?

Those reviews can't be posted unless they are 5/4 stars usually (stupid OcUK system).

To be honest, if a customer looked at a picture of this case and didn't realise what they were letting themselves in for, then that person is an idiot. I mean, look at it.

What's worse to me is the XClio type cases that OcUK sells. Now they should be banned.

Sounds like you're calling Yewen an idiot then, cos he actually started this thread, and if he wasn't able to immediately suss it wouldn't accept any decent cooler by actually having the case in his hands, how would anyone else be able to tell from just a generic photograph and the usual marketing speak description? No one in this thread even thought the cooler problems were even going to be an issue, until the bitech review was posted. I mean, no one would assume any case would be released to the general public with such an utterly ridiculous design flaw. People should be clearly warned.

So what if you cant get a "decent" cooler in it, some people may want to use the ******* large fan thats on the top with passive cooling or even a stock cooler.

Why all the hate for this "case",it fills a niche, whats wrong with that?

No. That's not what I wrote. I wasn't talking about whether the case can fit any type of cooler or not. And anyway most cases can't and they don't come with warnings.

Why should this?

Was a bit bored at work so thought I'd read some of the reviews. They didn't half cheer me up! I've not laughed so much in ages.

Sems these cases come with a bag of magic mushrooms or LSD going on the complete dribble most of the reviewers have written!

5 Stars people, 5 Stars lol.
