Yodel Delivery Service - OMG!

As a person who works in a delivery service, one massive piece of advice. If your house/flat is even remotely difficult to locate, write out the delivery instructions on the website or on the parcel your sending, like between roads x and y, blue door etc.

Nothing is more infuriating to a delivery man than a housename in nowheresville where the postcode is a road a mile long on a national speed limit road. Never assume that someone will find it, especially when it's dark.

yea and if you live somewhere with a communal entrance thats locked and has an intercom put what they have to press even if it says on the bloody intercom because they wont read it

my neighbour was getting seriously ****** off with delivery men ringing his intercom instead of mine

Much as I dislike Yodel from previous personal experience and having to deal with the backlash regarding them from a temp job I was doing, the last three deliveries I've personally had from them have arrived on time and with no fuss.

*shudders*

Yodel in my area are brilliant, but that's only as we have a very hard working lass who does it, it seems to be very down to the local delivery staff who probably get almost no real form of monitoring.

Delivery attempted, call card left Reading van 22nd Mar 2013 15:33
Delivery not attempted Reading van 22nd Mar 2013 20:08
Returned to local service centre Reading service centre 22nd Mar 2013 20:23

Mixed singles Yodel? Funny how that appeared after i phoned them to complain. What is this attempted/not attempted paradox? Schrodinger Cat?

To top it off, today is snowmagedon, so there is no way it will get here today and i am not risking my neck driving over to the service centre to pick it up.

Last delivery I got from Yodel they decided that since no one was in the house, they would leave the box outside the front door on the floor!

This is why I prefer Royal Mail Parcels.

#1 They know where I live (So no carding of wrong address, a frequent issue with indies reliant on sat-nav. SAT-Nav doesn't work well for my address)

#2 If I am carded I simply request redelivery to my local PO. In the Village Shop over the road! (Intelligent retailers will instruct an automatic default to the local PO Strauss work-wear does this. Most impressed) rather than having to collect froma depot 30 miles away!

I know many retailers have "Deals" with the independent couriers but I prefer those that give RM Parcels as an option. Internet shopping without it is almost impossible for me!

Yodel have majorily failed in trying to collect a parcel from me to return to Amazon, history below

Attempt 1 - no one attended, no card left etc...
Attempt 2 - Wrong collection address declared and customer services couldn't change the address for that day once it was entered into their system!
Attempt 3 - no one attended, no card left etc...
Attempt 4 - This Thursday, fingers crossed.

Their customer support is awful, they apparantly have no way of finding out where the driver is or their schedule, the best they can do is advise a 9am to 6pm window.

Shocking company, I hope they go out of business and any good staff they have are snapped up by a proper firm.

** Edit - Just been in touch with Amazon. Alternative arrangements with Collect+ service made. Feedback on Yodel performance given **

If you have an address that isn't easily found, then obviously someone who goes there every day (which the post office would do I should think) will know where you live.

I often find that people who complain the most about carriers not being able to find where they live tend to live on unmarked roads in houses with no names and numbers on meaning the poor bloke trying to find them simply has to play pot luck.

I've even taken phone calls from people who (and I quote) "don't put a sign up, as we don't want people to know we are here".

just waited in all day, for them to log a delivery at 10am, where they didn't even bother to leave a "miss you" note or turn up. I mean that's not even covering your own back that's just "i couldn't give a monkeys"

honestly fuming. no matter where I've lived and dealt with these incompetent muggins (5 places so far in 6 years) they have pulled the same trick every time.

oh and a big number on the door in an easily signposted road off a main avenue in the town!

To be fair I ordered some things for next day delivery using Yodel to arrive before 12pm. They arrived at 11.58am. :D

Can't really complain though. The white van man was nice enough.

*sigh*
me- "why wasnt it delivered yesterday?"
yodel - "he had access problems"
me - "its just a door, he didnt even put anything through to say he had visited"
yodel - "well ive checked on google maps and it looks fine. well it'll get delivered monday as ive just phoned the depot and the delivery drivers have all gone out today but none of them have your parcel with them"
me - "why have your drivers gone out and not taken an undelivered parcel with them?"
yodel - "dont know?"
me -"you deliver till 9pm right? so can it be put on a later delivery driver?"
yodel - "no they dont do that"
me - "why not?"
yodel - "dunno"

LOL.

Just been bitten by Yodel. Waiting for a parcel ordered through CPW. It was sent Friday, it has been stuck in their depot since Saturday morning. No attempt to deliver was made yesterday and it doesnt look like it will be out for delivery today either! Argh. WTF are they doing! I wont be in to sign for it tomorrow and Thursday where as i have been in yesterday and today. Royally ****** off. How can a dleivery company forgot to.....deliver .

my last experience with them was not a good one. they do deliver in unsocial hours, when you are expecting something in the afternoon it arrives in the evening.

Had no end of problems with these jokers. having a parcel put through the living room window which fell behind the couch for a week and thrown over the fence. Just noticed this.

@YodelOnline Suprised your delivery driver decided to throw the package on the roof? Any reason why?

My delivery note said "on back porch". This was a little odd as I don't have a back porch and the side gate was locked. It turned out that they went down the neighbour's driveway and lobbed it over the hedge onto my lawn.
