I'd agree with that. My stepdad's from Wombwell, it's the broadest Yorkshire accent I've ever heard.

I may well be a suvverner, but my mum's from Lancashire and her mum's from Yorkshire (Doncaster to be precise). Talk about split loyalties. :/
Been to both Sheffield and Newcastle and got on with them both and could probably live in either. If I could drive I'd still be minded to head west and settle in the Lakes though, but at the moment the only way I'd be doing any of these is after winning the Lottery. I suspect my parents are going to end up moving in that general direction in the not too distant future though - they have a hankering for being able to see hills, not the boring flat stuff down here. Can't say I disagree.
