i gained lots of weight in my mid 40s but now in my late 40s i've lost a lot of it, still some to go though.
i've noticed my back is the main thing that is different to my younger days, i get back ache/pain sometimes quite severely if i move or sit/lie down the wrong way.

I had that problem about 5 years ago. I fixed it by buying stiff/upright chairs and a hard mattress. It took 2-3 months to adjust to the posture change but it was worth it. Lower back issues are usually caused by adverse spinal curvature/posture.

I can relate to this post. I just turned 40 in June and I don't why but in my mind I am now much older and feel like I have lost contact with friends and become a bit of a recluse. I have just started a new job though and trying to look on the positive side of things. Planning on signing up to the gym and getting more active and hopefully meeting new people. I find meeting new people as you get older becomes much harder.

The belt think isn't age. That's laziness or a lack of caring (and yes I'm guilty of it too).

As for age I'm finding a lot of injuries take a long time to heal now and I have constant aches in various places.

Well I've certainly almost reached the last hole........47 years of age, lost about 6 stone/40kgs in the last two years :p:p:p

Yeh that's spot on, i've noticed if i sit or lie down a certain way or lifts things holding the weight away from my body, my back will play up. since having some pretty intense pain a few months ago i no longer sit in a certain way and it's helped. i need a new mattress too.
