You never think you will ever get old !!!

For me, the big C is getting more common younger and younger.
So although I don't assume I'll get it.. I don't assume I won't. This has been a big big mental change for me. And it's why I'm in lofoten right now. It's why I'm be in Greenland in July. It's why I'll be in Morocco in September and Mexico in February.

Because even if something terrible doesn't happen.. I may not be able to do this stuff even at 50/60.

So no FIRE or anything like that. Live for now for me.

You hear some people say "I go travelling when I retire" As if they will be well enough in their 60's to travel with zero health issues.

I'm 43 now (44 in June) and 110% believe my best is yet to come. I'm in FAR better shape than any other time in my life, but in one area I have to bow the knee to Father Time, is eating and drinking bad foods.

I don't know if the quality of crap foods is just worse nowadays, but a greasy morning fry-up will nearly put me in bed for a week. Alcohol, forget about it, you're nuts. I can't touch the stuff anymore. Soft drinks like Coke or Fanta. I get such a headrush from the sugar and then instantly start feeling like crap. Don't touch it anymore. Don't miss it at all.

When I was 22, I could eat a bag of Doritos for lunch, was it down with some Fanta and Oreos, and perhaps a beer, and then go do a heavy workout and feel strangely ok. If I try that today, I will die. suffer for an hour, and just die.

These days I can run 15miles like it's a gentle stroll (I couldn't do 2 miles in my 20s), lift weights as a warmup that I was maxing in my 20s.

Now had I been smarter in my 20s, who knows. Maybe I could've been a better specimen by not holding myself down being stupid, but I'll never know now.

i had my kids in the early 2000's there is no way on earth i would even contemplate having kids nowadays! i worry for their future :( as it's all gone a bit pete tong as they say

Do you realise every generation has said this :)
My Mum and Dad wondered about it in 1957, me and my wife talked about it in 1986.

Yeah but things are harder now. Look at the cost of housing, healthcare, pension age, climate etc.
Its really sad seeing families in restaurants on thier phones etc

Just hit 60 and retired a few weeks ago, started work at 19, enjoying it very much - gym 2 or 3 times a week, sorted the house out and getting ready for the spring to get out cycling and walking.

Not that interested in travelling, lived abroad for over 10 years and been to many places abroad on holiday as well.

I did the same thing as DXP55 during lock down i started to cut my own hair and forgot to put the guard on and cut a big slice out of my hair so just cut the rest off, much better at cutting my own hair now but then there is less of it !

Snap!

I'm 68 going on 88. :p

Don't worry the next ten years will fly by and you will say where the hell have they gone. -I you can do what ever you want to do yesterday.

I have got to go out with the steps and take the locking system off a window to see if I can find a makers name so can buy two for one and half wornout and broken ones.
See you can't just sit around reading Rebus books.
Fortunately there is no wind -Hate wind as it makes my eyes and nose run. another joy.

Thinking of taking up Golf, but not sure if you play with a buggered knee with no Cartlidge :( Or might just get a E-mountain bike and a dog. (mrs would prefer golf)
