YouFibre

Yeah ordered the you1000 at the time of order.

Also, looks like YouFibre are honouring the deal I placed when the initial order went in, from back in 2023 the deal was YouFibre 1000 with 1st 3 months at £6pm the remaining months at £34.99.

I've opted for the YouMesh which is the extra £7pm, would be nice if the whole lot was Eero for ease.
If you've opted for YouMesh then I would imagine you'll get the Eero's.

Keep having significant speed drops after a few days with this router, down from 2.4ghz down and 2ghz up to as low as 800mbs up and down. Doing a full factory reset fixes the issue for a few days. Messaged them on the website and in around 2 mins, have an engineer booked for Monday (at my request) to swap the equipment over.

Thier customer service is excellent

Arris - NVG578LX

Forgive me, but am I right in saying that the connection coming into my house will be different to that of what talktalk fttp is then? Theirs came through the wall with a little box inside (openreach) with fibre cable, then I plugged an ethernet cable into that to a Eero router. So the Arris is a modem/wifi router?

YouFibre will be the same setup as you have this now. Fibre cable from outside connects to a little box inside (ONT) then your router plugs into the ONT via ethernet cable.

The Arris - NVG578LX is YouFibre's own branded default router that they supply. Since you've ordered YouMesh I would imagine you'll get the Eero's as they are a Router/Mesh system.

yes youfibre use the cityfibre network (mostly) or in some places their own cables. I can only get VM or openreach - so I can't get youfibre and it is very annoying.

I've only ever had You Fibre installed and yes its a modem/wifi in one, I just could not see how that was going to cover my large bungalow and the inlaws in the annex on the other side of the property

Cheers pal for clearing that up ;)

That's not true, afaik? Their parent/partner company Netomnia (think what Openreach is to BT) do the fibre builds. They're a regular AltNet, not a reseller/virtual operator. They do overbuild existing infra using sharing agreements (eg Openreach poles) so maybe that's what you mean? It's still their own fibre, equipment and backhaul though.

Taken from my original order back in January 2023 until now to get it, don't give up keep on to them with their order page for potential sign up. Only reason it took so long for my area is, the original build stopped due to the contractor going into administration. Thankfully, recently I saw Netomnia van and a few blokes doing some work roadside, I drove past then spun car round and stopped and asked them if it's started again on build. They said it's nearly complete, so just out of nowhere really, now a week later got a 'go live' date of next week and install on Tuesday the first date available. I was VM only for years, bt wasn't even an option, heck even went with talktalk which tbf have been very good just let down by the low upload speeds of 100mb max.

see here: https://www.youfibre.com/news/youfibre-live-on-cityfibre-network/

Also ispreview helpfully breakdown which networks a provider can supply over. https://www.ispreview.co.uk/isp_list/ISP_List_MultiGigabit_Broadband.php?page=2
Youfibre uses netomnia (their own cables as you say) and cityfibre. Neither of those supply to me sadly.

I'm still stuck on VM. Out of contract now and I don't want to sign up again but fear I will have to. I could get Aquiss but only over asymmetric open reach fttp.

Sorry to hear you're stuck with VM, expensive isn't it. They was my only option for years where I live, heavily subscribed with the lack of other infrastructure in this area. Copper was not really an option.

That's the position I was in last year, before YouFibre went live. Take the Openreach FTTP, all day every day. Don't sign up with VM again. Look at the likes of IDNet, A&A, Aquiss (though I did find their peak time and routing/latency not optimal compared to others on OR) and even PlusNet etc. If you don't need a public IPv4 address/static IP you're in an even better position for finding a good, cheaper package. Openreach FTTP will blow away VM HFC.

I was going to try Zen but got put off by people saying they've gone downhill recently. They're also not much cheaper than my current VM out of contract prices.

I was looking at Plusnet tbh other than sticking with talktalk, can you get talktalk? Maybe worth a try for a while?

I find myself prejudiced against them. I think it's people moaning about inconsistent speeds and i mainly wfh so I need something that is reliable. VM for all my annoyance with them does at least have decent uptime. I seem to recall unhappy talk talk customers not too long ago berating speed drops etc. Am I being too hasty in writing them off?

Personally I would say so, only fact is like you my wife wfh and does many teams meetings requiring a decent connection.

Tbf with TT, I think a lot of issues I was aware of was prior to their switch to fibre with old connections.
When I first got my install done, there was probably one or two hours max where any drops occurred and since that day it's been flawless. Had many more issues with VM than TT over the years, too many to mention.
If it wasn't the fact that YouFibre have eventually completed their network here, with the better upload speeds I would've more than likely stayed with TT for their what upto 100mb.

Recently got the 1000 package, having been on 72mb BT FTTC. Seems really good so far! 940 down, 900 up. I thought pings would be better than the old FTTC, but they're about the same - 10ms, which isn't bad, just thought it would be lower.

Got supplied with an Eero Pro 6E (which is apparently unusual for a 1000 connection without a mesh). While the short range WiFi speed is really impressive, the lack of a web UI, separable SSIDS and ethernet ports means it's going to have to be replaced with something!

Yeah had an install about 3 weeks ago myself, decided to send the Eero 6 back, bought my own Eero 7 max instead of. Got 2 units for mesh across both house and garden to the rear of house. Agree lack of webUI for Eero's isn't great but the phone app seems ok tbh. I don't have bad pings myself, getting around 6-8ms

Also mentioned lack of any YouFibre webpage to log in for personal account etc, apparently that's on its way maybe with a mobile phone app. But overall very happy with speeds of their 1000.
