YouFibre

Probably just a me issue with my home setup but was having issues getting videos on skysports.com/football working on my pc but phone was fine on the same WiFi. It kept thinking I wasn't in UK despite having a UK IP address. No VPN enabled and cookies/cache etc cleared.

Turns out phone was using ip6 and pc was ip4 only. Enabling ip6 fixed the issue straight away. Some youfibre IP4 addesses getting incorrectly geo-located wrongly maybe? Might of use if someone else comes across a similar issue.

Really frustrated with Youfibre today, I asked them some questions via the app about using my own equipment and the idiot decided to make changes on their end that seem to have bricked my connection. The ONT is fine, the connection is up but for some reason the router can't connect to the Internet. Same idiot thinks it's a hardware problem when it worked fine until he made changes on the back end and now keeps trying to palm me off on an engineer.

Doh! What was you asking them about using your own equipment? Best rule with YouFibre support is try not to use YouFibre support! Especially when it's about your own hardware, which they'll not touch anyway. Hopefully he just dropped your DHCP lease. Turn the ONT and router off for half an hour and then turn it back on and see if you pick up an IP. What router are you using?

I literally asked them if it was possible as I wanted to move away from the Asus Et12 they gave me and don't like their new router. Specifically told them I hadn't bought anything yet.

Ive already tried that mate but think you

Yeah you can use your own equipment. Avoid the script monkeys as much as possible mate, ask on here first! Hopefully they just dropped your profile and they realise and switch it back soon. Keep at them!

I mean I had to explain how to set the router up to guy who came to install it last year.

I keep asking him to escalate and he goes off on a tangent about something else. I've already logged a formal complaint

Still not resolved! I keep being told it's escalated to the tech team and my tickets are closed. The script monkey I spoke to on the phone today told.me she'd fixed it. She lied. I'm that frustrated by them right now I'd consider switching providers but nobody comes close to speeds

Day 3 and still not fixed, I've logged a formal complaint. Had an email this morning saying they'd cleared the DHCP on their end finally and a power cycle should fix the problem. It hasn't!

Finally, a resolution! It's taken numerous phone calls, emails, and messages to multiple departments and including Ofcom for advice (Who couldn't do anything) but I'm finally back online after getting their senior tech guy on the phone. Nice guy, actually.

Somehow when they cleared the MAC lease, it reprovisioned both the GE and 10GE ports on the ONT and that bricked the connection. He's never seen it happen before.

Glad you got it resolved mate, even if it was a pain for the day!

Basically 3 days mate but yeah, and fully expecting more pain when my ubiquity stuff turns up in a few days
Running your own router is easy, as long as the line itself is up(!). I didn't even *get* a router from them. I got my install the week they rolled out in Liverpool, and they had no 2G routers available. I just plugged my x86 box in (VyOS) and sorted it myself. You'll need to configure your WAN as DHCP for IPv4, and DHCPv6-PD with a /56 (residential customers). If you have a static IP then configure that (I have a /29 and a /48).

Hi, I'm on You1000 and have a static ip, does anyone know if it supports ipv6, I use my own router (Asus ZenWiFi Pro XT12)
Yes, YouFibre is native dual stack. You'll need to use DHCPv6-PD and request a /56 per my post above yours. You can delegate that locally as you see fit.

Is this correct?

Sorry mate I was out. Yes, that looks correct to me. I'm not on DHCP/residential so my setup's different, but DHCPv6-PD with stateless (RA) configuration is correct. You should get a /64 on LAN (and possibly on WAN, or maybe an fe80: address). YouFibre's range tends to start 2a0e: from their 2a0e:1d40::/29 prefix. You may also need to allow some IPv6 in on WAN -> LAN (eg for ICMPv6) for things to work, and if you have any servers the Asus firewall defaults to drop all, afaik. If it doesn't work just post back.
