Your Alarm Clock

At 6:20 I am woken by my phone either playing "Pure Imagination" as sung by Gene Wilder in Willy Wonka or the main theme from Zelda: OOT. I then snooze for 10 minutes and get up to face the day.

Whats a snooze and whats all this waking up early then going back to sleep and having the alarm go off again:confused:
Just set the time your meant to get up and just get out of bed then?

Used to be:

6:30 am - goes off - get up

Has now worked its way to:

6:00am - goes off, turn off.
6:20am - second alarm goes off, turn off
6:30 am - third alarm goes off, get up.

Not that I need three alarms I just like falling back into a deep sleep quickly.

That's pretty much what I do these days using my phone, I like to enjoy drifting off a couple of times before actually getting out of bed.

I set my alarm every night dependant on what jobs I have the next day - If I'm working in the office or going to the office before I start - I'll set my alarm at around 7.30am - snooze till 8 - Get up, run around and go to work :p

If I have to work at a job miles away - I'll usually go for around 6.00 - 6.30 - sometimes 5.30 if I have to. :(

7.30 the alarm goes off, have to get up and turn it off as is on the other side of the room, back to bed for 5 minutes, then to the kettle

I personally set mine for 6:50, snooze for 30 minutes and go back to sleep, then when it goes off again lay in bed till 7:30. I'm not sure this is a good way to do it as I normally wake up after the snooze feeling even more tired.

What's your lots method?

That's terrible, you could have another 40 minutes sleep which could make all the difference between feeling like arse and feeling like god.

My method is let the alarm clock go off 5 minutes before I absolutely have to get out of bed, then dose / watch BBC News / listen to soothing sounds until the 5 minutes has passed.

Saying that my alarm doesn't go off until 7:15, so I suppose I'm luckier than some in that regard.

Alarm set for 7.30 - promptly put on snooze.

Snooze goes off 9 minutes later and up I get, (slowly). Odd how the iPhone chooses 9 minutes though.

If I'm getting up for work the actual start time varies (which isn't healthy) but I set an initial alarm and then another one for 15 minutes later and drag myself out of bed on the 2nd alarm - as I'm slightly paranoid I usually have 2 different alarm clocks (one my phone).

If its a non work day or as winter is coming a work day I have to set another alarm an hour early as well or its pretty much impossible to wake up enough to get going.

Part of the problem is my natural sleeping pattern does not correspond to a "normal" day - I don't stard winding down til gone 2am and impossible to fall asleep before 3-4am.

There is method behind my madness!

I set it for 6:50 because ideally I like to get up about 7:10 so I'm not rushing but on some (most) mornings I can't be bothered to move till 7:30. Half 7 is the latest I can get up.

weekdays: 0500 - SS&S, breakfast, walk dogs, 0700 alarm to get me to go home, drive to work
weekends: 0330 - breakfast, take O.H. to work
No Snooze allowed!
Oh for a lie in :)

If that was my week, I'd probably kill myself.

my work times vary so do my sleep times, however, i have never understood the 'snooze' people.

All you are doing is interrupting your sleep, why not just set it to the time you need to wake up and when it goes off, get up.

wife sets hers for 30 mins before she needs to and then snoozes for the half an hour. crazy.

My alarm goes off at 05:25 ... or at least it thinks that when it goes off, it's actually 10mins fast so it goes off at 05:15 (but I'm normally awake at 05:00 anyway).

Backup up alarm (mobile) goes off at 06:00 but that only gives me 15mins to get out of the house.

I can't wake up to alarm clocks, I set two up last week and they went off at the same time but I slept right through. :( I never wake up to noise.

I had an ex kinda like that, she'd get used to the alarm sound after just 2-3 nights and sleep right through it unless she changed the sound it made every night, in the end she had to set the radio to come on at a certain time.
