Your bad driving encounters

Was out on the Motorcycle today for the first time to go to work. While returning home as I turned the usual sharp left towards my home at 15 mph ish, the Kia Sportage decided that they couldn't wait for 2 seconds and overtook me. I wasn't even halfway in the turn, had just begun doing it.

I didn't get scared but it was the move that I didn't expect. Certainly wasn't a nice feeling.

So I've been asked if I'd be willing to go to court as a witness for the council/police over an incident that happened early last week whilst at work.

I was on a bus and a taxi dangerously (within inches) cut me up on the exit of a RA. A little further up the road he'd parked up (in a bus stop) and I was a little miffed and confronted the driver of said taxi. His response was "I indicated so it's my right of way, it's your job to get out of my way. You are the one that nearly caused an accident". My response was that he needed to go have some driving lesson and earn a UK driving licence.

Anyway, noted all the details of the car & reported it to the licencing authority & police. Also gave them a description of the driver. Within hours of reporting it the LA contacted me to confirm the driver's identity description. Turns out that the person behind the wheel isn't the person registered on the licence plate by a long shot. CCTV from my bus has been requested & I may have to go to court to confirm that the actual registered driver was not the person behind the wheel.

Off the record the LA rep stated that he is dubious that the driver actually holds any UK documents, given his response to my interaction.

Another red light runner today, this time they were next to me, we both had plenty of time to stop and the lights were only subsequently red for about 15 seconds, not sure what they achieved.

Sigh. Wonder if one day I'll see a collision as a result of this.

A BMW driver cut me up in my own town! 2 lanes coming to a roundabout, left lane is ONLY for going left, right lane for straight, he's on my left and as soon as we both join he decides he is in the wrong lane and cuts inches from my bumper in front, no flash to say sorry etc.

I did nothing, just cruised along until we both reached the DC before the motorway and I went into lane 2 as there was a doddery slow car in front on lane 1, I aligned with the slow car and stayed that way for as long as possible before booting it off into the distance.

Yes it was absolutely petty, no I am not sorry

People who randomly dab their brakes when there's literally nobody anywhere near them.

People who want to get so close to my bumper they can smell my bumhole, despite there being a 2 mile bumper to bumper tailback in front of us. (Sorry I can't drive through the cars in front of us.)

People who can't zip merge smoothly from a slip road in the same type of bumper to bumper traffic, i.e. instead of taking turns try to force their way out or are ultra, ultra hesitant.

I seen a cracker today just entered 40mph average speed limit, half a mile down the road right lane is coned off.

Guy in front of me is doing 35ish but I've just whacked the ACC on so leaving the car to it, another guy slots in behind me and then an X5 starts coming down the right lane faster than us but probably still no more than 45 guy behind me doesn't like this and swerves out in front of the X5 then back in and starts giving all the hand gestures.

Now I'd understand a little bit more if that guy then was an absolute perfect driver but once we're out of the average limit he's well over the limit, in the wrong lane, cutting people up and generally a moron. So it literally must have been the fact someone had the audacity to pass him half a mile before the merge point that caused him to just try and take them both out.

Think I freaked someone out a little today, though mostly an overreaction on their part IMO, I was closing a little hot on a tailback of traffic when some kind of drama went on near the start of the queue causing people to slow randomly - which I think the car in front of me didn't think I could see and started snaking while randomly putting their indicators on right and left to get my attention. Maybe a touch inconsiderate on my part, though I think mostly overreaction on their part, but I was perfectly aware of what was going on and how much room I had to work with and matched speed with the traffic with loads of space to spare.

There were a quite a lot yesterday but more bad parking ones. The usual, car not within the lines and parked diagonally, car parked on boxed yellow area..

One was a woman in a Passat estate. She was in the left lane for exit and me to the right at a roundabout. The lane in the right proceeds to go into Northwich. People new to the area do cut in to right which is fine but this one was aggressive. Then just a little further ahead she decides to turn right, then aborts the move while in the oncoming lane and ends up facing the wrong direction. Now desperately checking over left shoulder to get back.

Other one was a lady in her Tucson who overtook me in a 30 while I was doing bang on 30 mph myself. I remembered this car later who was just ahead of the Passat and was equally badly driven.

All of these. Bloody annoying.

Arrived at work today and there is one driver who regularly parks within the parking lot, but not in an actual space. Several times lately they've done it so they're blocking the turn in from the road (busy one way system) and also encroaching on the entrance to my particular section of spaces.

Today they had parked so far out of line with other cars that I couldn't manoeuvre into my space at all without going inside the other area and reversing back into it, leaving my driver's door against a wall/island thing.

Now I usually intend to write a note telling them to park better if they're going to park here without permission, but I always forget by the time I've got upstairs and opened up the office. So I put a cone on their bonnet. Blue car, nice contrasting orange cone, nice visible hazard :P

30 minutes later they had moved the cone, and their car into a sensible position. Success, I will repeat this tactic in future!

At work I'm guilty of this one but I have reason.

Our work vehicles are actively speed monitored and even a deviation of 2mph over the limit for more than 6 secs gets flagged. Because they're multi-ton vehicles they don't slow quickly by themselves.
