Your bad driving encounters

Some people switch them off. Annoyingly my dealer does everytime my car goes in for a service!

Yeah every time any of my vehicles go in for a service they seem to come out with AC settings reset and auto lights switched off - not that bothered by the auto lights but I never remember and then 1-2 minutes down the road get a massive blast of cold air to the face which is hugely distracting and can't mess around too much while driving to sort it :(

I disagree with the auto-headlight thing. It breeds complacency.

What I would like to see is the light level sensor hooked up to an in-cabin 150Db siren. Light level falls sufficiently to need headlights, siren goes off and deafens the driver. It would very quickly remove any complacency.
I'd like to see that extended to indicators not bring on too  .

Crawling traffic. There’s a petrol station on the corner of two roads, each road having its own access to it.

Impatient BMW driver decided to use the petrol station as a cut through. If a car is at the pumps at the front of the forecourt, drivers can’t cut through. BMW misjudged the exit and hit the wall.

Serves him right!

Could the owner of the petrol station fine vehicles doing this?

Coming up to a roundabout, to turn left, and traffic queued up for 200 yards in lane 1 going straight over, quickly changed to lane 2 thinking I'd go all the way around into the left turn then noticed a lorry in lane 2 near the front of the queue at an odd angle with hazards on and door open, so thinking they'd broken down joined the back of the queue in lane 1 instead, only to find the lorry driver was having it out with the car in front of them for whatever reason :(

Drove from Bedford to London tonight - 75 miles of M1/M25 etc etc and Blackwall tunnel. Smoothest drive I've done in months, absolutely stuck to ETA but my god there were a lot of ******s about. A few sets of people racing each other in and out of traffic, and when I got in to London proper someone pushed past me at about double my speed in a 40mph zone. Typical Friday night I guess... Always see bad behaviour Fridays and Saturdays!

I don't think I've ever done the M25 in the evening and not had at least one set of Porsches or similar weaving in and out of traffic at twice the speed of any other traffic - almost certain spoiled rich kid types.

Interesting, my bit (North to northeast) is usually pretty businesslike I've found.

Not mine but spotted this on reddit, was amused reading the comments. OP got rinsed :o

on another note, the amount of people that cut me up in front has been unreasonably high recently, whilst others on a merge-in-turn don't employ proper etiquette and simply fail to allow suitable merging, or accelerate to stop you from merging. Why are these people like this!

Yeah even in those conditions if you can't manage more than 35 shouldn't be driving, albeit the guy behind was a total douche. They should try some of the roads I've done in the dark that I'm not familiar with :(

I had a boy racer type come flying up behind me on the way home just now... then sit at a sensible distance behind me until an overtaking opportunity came up... I was shocked.

Have to say I'll never understand the mentality of the person behind me on the way to work today - drives, when they can, 10MPH above the limit in non-NSL but 10MPH under the limit in NSLs, accelerates up to a new faster limit almost as soon as the signs appear and brakes down to a new slower limit after passing the limit change. They can't have had much fun sitting behind me for 20+ minutes, poorly anticipating that my driving style was different to theirs or that I'd drive to the limits, kept positioning to overtake on the approach to NSLs even though after the first one they should have known I'd leave them far behind until they caught up in the next town... but 4 times went to overtake me on the approach to NSL sections, the last time even changing lane at the start of the dual-carriageway then just sitting there at 60 as I took off at a "good" 70...

It's like autopilot isn't it. They do all the manoeuvres they think are necessary without checking if the surrounding cars are actually following the scenario they expect.

In that same vein, yesterday I was on a motorway and approaching the point where an exit lane branches out from the left lane. I was in the left lane and needed to stay on, wanted to move out and overtake someone in front but a lorry was on my rear right and travelling faster than me. So I slowed down a bit to let him past before moving out. Lorry then starts indicating to move left/exit and blasts the born as if I'm blocking him. Perhaps if the driver hadn't been overtaking me when moving over, or indicated earlier, I might have been able to get out of the way sooner

Definitely some autopilot to it - they were obviously trying to not tailgate but were unable to anticipate when their driving would result in getting right up behind me, only reacting when they got too close.

Well 5am this morning one car with near side front fog light on and nothing else. Another car with no lights on at all and both between two villages with no street lights. Then 3 pushbikes with no lights and all of them wearing dark clothing. Why are people so stupid nowadays and why are there no police around to give the suitable advice.

Absolutely, had a guy tonight seemingly trying to climb into my back seat even though there was nose to tail traffic, weaving in the lane, all sorts. Not sure if his eyes were working.

Too many drivers who can't seem to see past the end of their own bonnet (or at least the car directly in front of them).

Had someone beeping like a maniac behind me for stopping on a roundabout to leave a gap for joining traffic (with well marked "keep clear" signage) while my lane & exit was block due to traffic stopped at a red light.

Literally wtf - where exactly do you expect me to go?!

Imo hitting a ninja cyclist (or a car with no lights on when it's dark) should be an exemption from the law. I've noticed they often don't wear helmets either so safety is clearly not something they are bothered about.

Had an interesting one involving a cyclist on the way to work yesterday - lorry overtaking one coming the other way forced me to brake hard, from a distance I didn't see the cyclist and thought the lorry was indicating to turn into a farm I was passing or I'd have slowed down earlier. Need to review dashcam see how obvious the cyclist really was or whether poor observation on my part.

Had another fun one just before that - went to pull out to overtake a horsebox only to find workmen had abandoned signs sticking out into the other carriageway so had to hold off a bit.

I do wonder how many people drive coked off their ****. Or maybe they are abusing steroids or something.

So many weirdly aggressive drivers on the road who are stuck in traffic like everyone, else but can't seem to accept it.

From my post earlier:

Dunno what it is with people increasingly just so little care, poor attitudes to health and safety until something happens which was easily preventable, etc. etc. that stuff was just abandoned there (not active traffic lights) for awhile and there is a corner right behind me so anyone coming the other way would have to commit to going around it before they knew it was clear...

Was wondering how much was observation failure on my part but the video isn't very revealing - I was aware the lorry was indicating 3-4 seconds in but didn't see the cyclist or realise how far over the lorry was until I was level with the first turning - my assumption was the lorry was indicating to take the turning to the farm.
