That is why you don't wait in your car if stuck on the hard shoulder :s

Approaching a 4 way light controlled junction today, taxi about half-way along the straight ahead lane trying to get into the lane for turning right, despite having had plenty of time to pick the right lane, blocking all the traffic behind them from going straight, causing the traffic to back up behind us into the town centre which then had the knock on effect of disrupting the traffic coming the other way so it was building up in the junction preventing the traffic in the lane to turn right from clearing... idiot.
As it was a taxi I'd assume they'd have local knowledge as well and know that there are 2 roads less than 100m ahead if they'd kept straight on they can hang a left and come back to the junction from the other way and just go straight over to where they were trying to go, or worse case another turning half a mile on which takes them back to where they were trying to go and also a fuel station they could turn around in...
They're all using sat navs these days. No such thing as local knowledge anymore. They all get a badge from elsewhere in the country like Wolverhampton thanks to deregulation. (For reference Wolvo has almost 50,000 registered taxi licences on the books)
Don't they do that as its cheaper to register in certain areas? They're all using sat navs these days. No such thing as local knowledge anymore. About every other one of the taxis I see in Leicester and surrounding areas are Wolvo licenced. Also can't find it online at the moment, Wolvo registered taxis can be 2 years older than other local authorities. They're all using sat navs these days. No such thing as local knowledge anymore. Plus seen some Wolvo taxis which are three doors. Most people who order taxis are elderly and/or unable to drive due to ill health. Some will struggle to get into the back seat from the front.
3dr and small cars such the Yaris aren't taxi material.Wolvo is slightly cheaper and as mentioned quicker to process the paperwork. In Sheffield it's about 4 weeks but that's a full DVSA and Enhanced DBS (due to kids and previous abuse scandals)
Personally I don't think Wolvo are checking properly, not with the speed they're knocking em out.
March 1st to August 1st 2023 Wolvo issued just over 22,000 plates. 105 days, 7.5hr days. Works out about 1 plate every 2 mins.
Not seen a 3dr taxi. Though I have seen a couple of Yaris 4drs and similar sized as taxis.
440655Report Type:Signs, lines and street furnitureSub Type:Unauthorised signLocation:A10 between Brandon Creek and LittleportReported:21/08/2023Description:CHANGE OF SPEED LIMIT ON A10. Yesterday there were a team of 2 men working on the signage along the stretch of the A10 between Littleport and Brandon Creek. Travelling along there today, there are now small 40MPH signs been attached to existing signage in both directions. Can you tell me how the council have followed legislation in terms of road user awareness, advance notification, large signage indicating a significant change in speed is coming up and large 40MPH signage when that zone starts? I use this road everyday and live at Brandon Creek.
The new sign for the start of the 40mph speed restriction is sighted in a very odd location, which gives the feel that its a joke. The sign is small, and sited away from the end of the road, which most drivers will miss. The normal entry to speed restrictions signs are usually about 18" in diameter, this one seems to be about 12", and there appears to be no reason for this. There are then no reminders for at least half a mile, which make you think it is a joke sign. And as the A10 is a trunk road, why has this now been dropped to 40 mph? 50mph I could understand, but I don't understand 40mph.
That's not entirely true, they do at least know where the speed/bus lane/red light cameras are (and aren't).They're all using sat navs these days. No such thing as local knowledge anymore.
I got a free modification, yay me

Was going around a roundabout and a kind lady was in the inside lane and realised she was in the wrong lane and cut accross straight into my door.
She probably shouldn't have been driving as she'd just come out of hospital after having some sort of operation on her head (it was bandaged up) and was in a very confused state.
She's admitted liability and I'm waiting for a payout from her insurance company, who to be fair have been brilliant (until I get a derisory offer, then they'll be ********).
Still, no one was hurt, so it's not all bad.
Sounds pretty clear cut if you were on the main road. My observations are that people's reactions times are a good few seconds which is horrendous so I try to predict what the morons are going to do.
I got T-boned today. I was on a residential street, and someone was turning out of a access road to a block of flat's parking area. Crunch - right into the side of me.
As you can see, they hit me mid driver door so I was already passed them. How on earth they didn't see me, I do not know. They've admitted liability, but, I need to make some phone calls tomorrow.
I'll follow up with more detail about why I need to make more calls tomorrow after I understand where we are.
On the plus side at least you weren't on the bike, that really would have ruined your dayI got a free modification, yay me

if you are riding a bike you need better reactions and road-skill otherwise you don't live long,On the plus side at least you weren't on the bike, that really would have ruined your day
visibility in cars too, speaking about you ID3 A's, B - pillars too, inhibiting sideways glance.
speeding on urban 30's doesn't help.
