Your bad driving encounters

The thing with petty stuff like this is you have no idea how petty or retaliatory the other person could be. The inner child in me would want to put the neighbours car on some dollies and take it for a early morning walk, preferably leaving it somewhere where it would be taken by the police promptly.*

Get the uno reverse card out and block them in too :p

People can be special when it comes to parking. I once moved both our cars onto the road on new years eve as we had sewage coming up from an inspection chamber and I though the en route blockbuster guy would need to access the manhole covers on the drive. Our neighbour made a loud comment about how we'd moved our cars to leave space for people to park on our drive later on and how he couldn't park outside his house. So he A) parked in front of a shared drive so he could announce to everyone what I'd done when they needed to get their cars out and B) whacked his music up to 11 (we were semi'd with him) to make a point.

Ironically the blockage ended up being on their side, I didn't bother trying to recover a contribution of the emergency call out fee from them.

Also ironically a few years later when the guy started bringing a 70 seater coach home to park on a small residential cul-de-sac he couldn't understand why there was an issue with it.

Solution was a lovely 4 bed detached place on a private road... Never even see the neighbours now and there are zero road issues (unless you count the £300 a year maintenance fee...). Perfect :D

Used to be tragic at my old house - people had to have *their* spot, even if only moving the car 2-3 feet would have allowed space to be used better, so by the end of the night the parking made very inefficient use of space and people would end up having to park in all kinds of silly places when if everyone just parked better it would fit everyone fine. Obviously there is going to be some coming and going of cars which would mean it was never perfect, but it was far from as efficient as it could have been.

i hate petty stuff like this, yes maybe they are unhappy but to block you in FFS

i would just leave it there as long as possible, maybe untill its next MOT
The bit I can't understand is they've just made the situation worse, and annoyed themselves further, by blocking the Fiesta in. I don't know what they think they've achieved?

@Roff - I think there's a bit of a double whammy nowadays too of more >18 kids living at home so more cars and inadequate provision of parking spaces, plus stupid narrow roads in newer estates.

New estates are a nightmare. At least now in our area there is a requirement for 2 off road parking spaces per house although I think the garage can count as one of those spaces and no one parks in a single garage. One of the estates in the village we previously lived in added stacks of communal parking... which was almost empty while the narrow zig-zag of roads around it were littered with cars.

Yes, that's the other thing, people are lazy gets so even if you give them a better option they don't want to have to walk a couple of metres.

People need to understand that they do not own the road outside their home.

Your home ownership starts on the doorstep (if front door is on pavement) or bottom of drive.

Look at your land register details. The road outside the home isn't highlighted to show it belongs to you or the landlord if renting.

Well technically... we do own the lane outside our house :s (not so much the main road it connects to though).

Boring, but good, conclusion to this. The grey van thing has either moved back a little, or has parked further away upon returning home.

Regardless, there was enough room to move the car, so that’s what has been done.

I must say, if my mum wasn’t so chill, and critically needed her car (say, for an emergency), she’d have been stuffed.

The police weren’t at all helpful. Nor were the council.

But thankfully all sorted now.

At least you know what he's like now.

This sounds super bad but the opposite side of the road is known to be the “dodgy” side.

It’s a weird road, as it pretty much acts in itself as a class divide - the contrast in houses/cars/garden condition on opposite sides is astonishing.

We had this with kids living at home with a house on the entrance to our estate. Each house gets 2 spaces, usually a double drive or drive + garage.

Mum, Dad and 3 kids (1 son, 2 daughters) all had cars. The kids all had partners who all had cars. The dad, the son and both daughters partners all had work vans!….. It was a nightmare getting into the estate at times as they just lined the entrance roads.
