Think this is the correct order. I originally traded my N64 for a PS1 for that sweet Gran Turismo life. My only console regret is not owning a Sega Saturn! Fondest memories are getting the original Gameboy for a birthday, as it seemed magic for the time.
3DS is probably the least used of all of them.

I suspect I am a bit unusual, in that I owned both a Megadrive and SNES, and XB360/PS3/Wii, but none of the ones that came inbetween i.e. PS, DC, N64, GC, PS2, or XB. Scrolling through a few responses in this thread I can't find anyone else in this category.

Gameboy
Megadrive (secondhand)
SNES (secondhand, late adopter around 1996)
|
Big gap of over 10 years
|
Wii
PS3 250GB (late adopter 2009 iirc)
Xbox 360 Arcade (2010)?
Xbox One (original one with Titanfall and Kinekt)
PS4 (2015, have never played any games on this despite buying a few, just used for playing media :( )
Xbox Series X (jointly owned with my son)

Basically what happened was late 90s I took up PC gaming and it was only the Wii which tempted me back to consoles, because it was genuinely innovative at the time and something I could play with my gf/family/friends etc.

Mega Drive + SNES = Check
360 + Wii = Check..No PS3 though.

I did get a PS1. GC when it was over because it was cheap and never played it, not sure that counts.

Close but not exactly. But last few years I have got all of them, Wii U,Xbox One, PS4, Switch, Xbox Series X and PS5. I didn't get the inbetween One X and PS4 Pro. Don't consider them to be a new generation.

On the side I did get a Gameboy Advance, DS and also the DS + or something?

It counts, I got the PS4 in 2005 because it was "cheap", still haven't played it. Also got loads of good games unplayed, e.g. Red Dead Redemption and The Last Of Us on PS3 still unopened, should've just not bothered and waited for remasters.

Didn't realise I'd had so many! I still think the golden era for me was PS1/PS2 though; so much time spent playing GTA Vice City and San Andreas; Gran Turismo 2, Metal Gear Solid; although it probably pales compared to what I've spent playing the various Battlefields and Call of Duty multi-player over the years ever since Call of Duty 2 on Xbox 360!

they were great games in their day, i was lucky back then. My mates dad ran a used computer game selling stall in an indoor market and he would bring the games home at night and we could play anything we wanted

Surprised how many owned a 2600, the average age of users here must be quite high lol.

  • Atari 2600 (I was born in the late 80s but my parents still had theirs and it was my first gaming experience, I still own it and it still works)
  • Amiga 600 (eventually died, ok not quite a console but I only used it for games)
  • Gameboy original (still owned and working)
  • PS1 (still owned and working)
  • Around this time I played a lot of Sega Megadrive and NES/SNES games but at friend's houses on their consoles
  • PS2 (sold)
  • Dreamcast (sold but regret selling now)
  • Xbox360 (bought purely to play Halo 3 multiplayer)
  • Various gaming PCs
I got my first PC shortly after the dreamcast, for a short while I was using PS2 and dreamcast and PC but then when PS3 released I decided not to buy it and to switch to PC-only gaming and have stuck with PCs ever since. I bought a cheap & used Xbox360 circa 2009/2010 to play Halo3 but that was the last console I purchased and likely will ever purchase. The Atari 2600 still sees occasional use but I use emulators if I want to play any other old console games.
