I've published plans for a computer I/O interfering system on the net and its been used by a few people in different parts of the world

... if you remember back to christmas time, there was that madly animated christmas display that was posted many, many times? I basically published plans for a system to do a very similar thing to that, though its still very much in a beta stage, there is a lot more features to add to it that I haven't got round to yet, but I just haven't had the motivation, my life has been at a low point for a while and is only just starting to perk up

Heh I've used a few of those bars on different forums.

As for my contribution, I've been a mod for awhile on the biggest San Andreas forums on the net and made some guides for different games, nothing big though.

I'm pretty sure I invented image hosting with UploadIt. Imageshack (now the largest, I believe) based a lot of their site on ours in the beginning. They're now, at a guess, 100x as large as UploadIt (which I sold in 2004).

I might be wrong of course and have plagiarised the idea myself but I can't think of any site which was around before UploadIt.

So why did you use UUE encoding and putting the image in several different files that you then had to cut and paste together and put through a UUE decoder?

I was talking to someone a while ago who begun an image hosting site slightly earlier than Uploadit. I can't remember any more than that though.

Myself...I host a few websites (including a scary amount of OcUK sigs) and am part of a project (World Wind) which (rumour has it) inspired Google to buy Keyhole.

Being part of something which serves tens of thousands of downloads per day and hundreds of data requests per second is pretty cool
