meh I have approx 450l and do a 80% water change every 7 days now that's a ball ache![]()
You dread a ~31 litre water change? lol
I change 50% (~700 litres) every week as standard on five active tanks, ~140-450l in volume, containing ~300 fish (~3cm SL adults to ~32cm SL and still growing).![]()
Yes, but I am new to this
Also, any tips? Last time I had to fill up a bucket 5 times and it's a pain in the back side...Or just purchase a reallllllllllllllly long hose?
What goes in the gap? Or you just expecting the floor to sag down onto the supports
Well you didn't say thatI hope it works out and I look forward to seeing the progress

I'm just setting up an air pump, but want to make sure I've done it correctly. Does the non-return valve go directly on to the air pump, or is it positioned a short way along the airline tubing?
Pump > Short tube > Non return > tube > airstone etc
Another question for anyone out there : should a spray bar be positioned so that it's returning water directly back on to the surface, or is okay to have it submerged?
Ideally you want a nice surface ripple going on to aid oxygenation. If you've already got that with an airstone then I guess you could sink the spraybar, but generally you get the best flow by generating a circular water movement (across top, down front glass, along substrate back towards the rear of the tank) which is achieved with them at the top pointing at the front glass.
