Your current Fish tank Setups!

looking good.

I'll post the pics of my nano marine tank tomorrow. I won a tank on ebay with some live rock and a damselfish, that being the only fish the previous owners hadn't managed to kill. The first thing I did when I got home was test the salinity of the tank. The needle of the hydrometer went off the scale and hit the top!

I can only assume the previous owner was topping lost water with more salt water!

If it was as off the scale as you say then you're probably right there Brookert, that is a common mistake by people that have done no research. What Damsel do you have?

A yellow and blue one, lovely vibrant colour. He is now called boris, because he is invincible! i now have a turbo snail and a hermit who go about doing their work. I've just added some lovely green zoas. Pics tomorrow.

An excellent start! I have a 3 bluefin damsels, lovely fish always on the go throughout the day.

Edit: added a picture

Once the lights go on that's gonna look awesome!!

Have you used that skimmer before? I had a nac7 bubble magus skimmer on my first tank and was never that impressed.

Yeah can't wait to get the LEDs on next month, the skimmer has been a pain getting it at the right depth to work properly, think I got it now, seems to be pulling gunk out already.

I've currently got a small 35L tank just with a handful of Minnows and some Amano and RCS shrimp. A friend has offered me his 125L Juwel, and although I've got my little 35L tank nice and settled for over a year with no deaths I've no idea how to go about re-stock / re-planting a bigger tank and moving my stock into it.

Ideally I'd like to fully cycle it first, but space in the house doesn't allow me to run both tanks at once.

Additionally, any suggestions on some rock / features / rooting plants to stock in a 125L tank? I've only got a single plant in my existing tank that's been in for ~ 6 months. I've never looked into fertiliser substrate etc before.

As long as you use the same filter you will be fine and id also suggest transfering all your current water and topping It up to fill the new tank.

Re plants, i personally like annubias of any variety. Stay away from red plants unless yove got some expensive lighting setup.

Nano update time I reckon. Still all going OK - I've added 3 sexy shrimp, a boxer crab, 3 small mushroom frags and a few more cheap zoa frags. Definitely getting new growth and what looks like decent polyp extension from the montis which is encouraging. Two notes of minor concern; I found (and destroyed) a single zoa eating nudi, and my Mexican turbo is spending a lot of time inactive and only weakly attaches to things. I've since read that they prefer cooler water so will have to keep an eye on him.

My existing filter is too small for a tank of that size, should I run it alongside a new one until it is "primed" ?

Yes, thats what i did when i wanted to change to external from Internal.other way round Is to remove and install the old Media from the filter into new one.

Running it along side tho wont hurt, if its a small internall one it might be good to keep going anyway, you cant over filter a tank :)

Very nice, Zoanthids are great, looking forward to selecting mine:)

Dont talk to me about Zoa's........ driving me mental lol.

Nice Fire N Ice which I can sell for around £8 a head! but rock structure is set and no way of taken them out to frag, so I am now left with this load with has about 3 new years to each stem per week! starting to take over everything, even my Plate has grown around them! lol.

Yeah I'm quite jealous of your critters, I had a boxer crab in my last tank and only ever saw it once. Can't have sexy shrimps again now either because of my hawkfish.
