Your current Fish tank Setups!

My local Maidenhead Aquatics has some Galaxy Rasbora's in at the moment for about the same price as that ebay listing. You can also pick them up and avoid postage and DOA fish.

Whilst you can buy online, I will always buy from a local store and if you want something rare in they can usually order if their suppliers have it.

That would be my advice too, but if you really must buy mail order use a specialist mail order company such as Tri-Mar.

Couple pics as promised, just from the phone for now but I'll get some proper ones once it's established and all the bubbles have settled.

Planted with Java moss, mini amazon swords, Vallisneria spiralis 'Tiger' and some sort of anubias I think.

That's exactly the kind of setup i want to do, my question is tho - how do you clean the glass effectively?

I used to use one of those 'blade-on-a-stick' type affairs as the magnet jobbies never did the job.

No idea, I only set it up yesterday. Since then most of the bubbles have gone, there's just some on the top now.

I'm pretty sure Fluval do a load of Edge specific tools and such, I'll let you know when I go to pick up some nitrite/nitrate etc. tests.

do they provide a container or do you take your own?

It was quite a long time ago now, but as I recall they let me (and maybe others who were regulars) borrow a container. Eventually when I bought a bigger tank I needed to buy one for myself since bigger water changes were required and I didn't want to keep going back and forth to the shop on the same day. After a while I bought an R.O. unit so I didn't really their service after that. I can't remember what a container cost. (My LFS was Maidenhead Aquatics, pretty good iirc).

i was gonna ask them to show me a tdu reading before i bought, i really dont fancy filling almost 500L at the rate it comes out.

i shall have to find out how much we pay for water and do some sums.

is the RO water ratio something like 1 RO to 5 waste?

Can anyone recommend a good online aquarium supply shop for things like food, plant additives, filter media, test kits etc?

The ones I've found using google don't seem to be that cheap and they all have really badly designed websites which make it hard to find stuff. Anywhere that does stuff in bulk would be an added bonus.

Cheers

I have a 5'x18"x25"(H) and a 3'x18"x24"(H)
5 footer has 2 FH's (flowerhorns), a big red devil, Green Texas, Synspilum, 2 plecos and 2 feather fin catfish, all american fish in there are over 20cm except the texas.
3 footer has a FH (Flowerhorn) and a pleco :), FH is about 10-15cm and pleco is a good 20+ cm.
