Your current Fish tank Setups!

The planted tank has come a long way. Added more shrimp and assassin snails today.

Marine tank is going though a big algae phase. A 3 week gap between water changes hasn’t helped, will do another next week. Looking much better post clean though, water just needs to settle. We’ve turned the flow up a bit too now that the tank is a bit fuller.

Opened up the turtle tank filter housing today, it only needs cleaning every few months. There were at least 20-30 baby shrimp, amazing how they get in there and thrive. It does a great job of keeping the tank clean, we only change the water every month or so:

So I went to buy a plant pot on Saturday and the garden center was having a closing down sale.

I ended up ringing my bro in law (Z4s aren't overly good for moving such things) and taking home a 110 litre tank and stand.

I moved all the fish and 'furniture' from my old 30 litre tank as well as the over specced canister filter and used some of the substrate to replant the greenery after being assured by Maidenhead Aquatics that it would be OK as it would be basically a big water change.

At the time we had 3 platys and 7 x 5 week old fry, 5 cloud minnows, a loach and a random Danio that has survived years after his mates died.

They all lived happily together in the old tank. After transferring them we noticed the male Platy had his tail nipped. At the time i just thought it was the fact we kept them in a small container while we transferred everything and filled the tank up.

This morning, however, his tail is even more ragged but I've not seen him being attacked by anything when I'm around, though one of the females may have been gravid and since given birth as she's lost a lot of weight overnight.

We also added 3 peppered Cories yesterday.

Any ideas why he's suddenly under attack or losing parts of his tail?

Hopefully going to start looking into adding some corals soon. Tanks 3 months old now and still pretty bare.

Mine was cleaned today but it’s a mess in-between cleans. I think much of it still stems from the coral die off a while back. Added a load of snails again, they’ll likely take care of it. Such is the nature of a living ecosystem, I’m sure it’ll settle. Our Goby is a bit thin, I hope it’s ok. The GSP and anemones don’t care, they are bigger than ever.

Looks like it's one of the females who's been attacking my male Platy, suspect I caught her in the act yesterday.

Weird how they lived in a smaller tank with no issues and putting them in a bigger tank seems to have caused this aggression.

Poor guy is hiding out under the big wood now.

Real question... how big of a fish tank should I get if i wanted to have two goldfishes? I want two so they don't get lonely but I did a little research and sites are saying that I need x number of litters of a tank per fish.

I just want something simple, two fishes, some decor in their tank, a pump and a light.. for the home office..

Common goldfish get quite big. Opinions seems to differ, but from what I'm reading you will need, at least, a 180l tank.

Personally I would throw a heater into that setup and look at tropical fish. You'll be spoilt for choice when it comes to fish selection.

Would also be worth doing some simple water tests on your tap water. Find out it's PH and hardness.

I've had a bit of a suprised this morning.
My zoa's and duncan coral turned up late yesterday. Got them in the tank and kept the lights off till this morning.

However, my duncan, does NOT look like a duncan.

It's been ID as a hammer coral!
No idea how to look after the little guy, or whether the position he's been GLUED too will meet his needs.
Here's hoping I can keep him alive.

Loved our hammer. Was very happy right at the top under the light. Stupid heat wave in the summer killed our hammer and torch. Tank is only now starting to settle from the die off. Fish are ok at least.
