How many times have people's details been leaked from major websites? Many many times. No forum actually needs your date of birth, so why ever give it if you don't want or need to?

It's one of the few things a forum has to try and return your account to you when you've locked yourself out and forgotten the email address you signed up with 20 years and a dozen different ISP's ago.
We get asked to recover forum accounts where the user can't remember the ISP they signed up with, and it's for a company or ISP that went under in the early 00's.
We could say give a fake one and remember it, but as people can't remember their email address...

If someone is inept enough to not even know their email address/addresses and the really require a bate of birth then that's fine for them, but as I say, a forum really doesn't NEED everyone's date of birth. Therefore don't want to provide one? then don't. Simples.
