Your driving...

My confidence needs improving. Ever since an incident last year I've not fully got the confidence to push a car round some bends. Really annoying as i know the scooby is so capable, and I just haven't got the balls to utilise it :(

And my parking sucks, because I never do it. Last time i reverse parked was in an instructors car. I always go for the simple option of driving straight into a space in car parks.

You should do a track day mate - will safely raise your confidence, and find the limits of the car in a day.

Parallel parking, im so crap at it, that its actually embarrassing :o

I'd prefer to drive in forwards, up the curb then off of it to get into a space than do it.

BTW if you slightly under or over rev whilst heel and toeing have any adverse effects?

Heel and Toe is only a benefit to a driver that has left his/her braking to the last possible moment, after all it's a way of pressing three pedals at the same time with only two legs.
unless you're really tanking it then you have more than enough time to move your foot from the brake pedal to the accelerator and blip the throttle for your gearchange then come back on the brake again.
all heel and toe is effectively is a faster way of doing this.
a good pal of mine used to work as a chauffeur and he can drive a manual in such a way you'd swear it was an auto.
"smooth" doesn't even come close and he doesn't even know what heel and toe is!

Not too much wrong with my driving.. except..

- Speeding (not in built up areas though)

- Late braking

- Anger (i should expect people not to know about the keep left rule, signaling, roundabout discipline and general road manners)

Just thinking more, my language when in the car would suprise a lot of people. Just seems i get all the idiots. Like the guy that pulled all the way out of a juction at a crossroad suddenly and blocked the road until he could contintue, he got a stream of expletives. Then anyone who ignores the right of way rules on roundabouts. Arrrg i get so peeved.

Alternatively, pay me I'll teach you how to do it properly!!! :D
when i was at college a mate of mine worked part time at the local Renault dealership.
he was basically a gopher but part of his job was moving the customers cars around.
i swear i could've sold tickets to watch him reverse park.
i'm good...he's better than good.

I'm sure he is!!! I can teach the thing in my sleep to anyone, I hate doing it using my method it teach with myself as its different from what I do. Ie I dont need to stop when I reverse back to just past the end of the car as I remember to look again before I move but I teach the pupils to stop and look again etc.

So if asked to show them what I mean etc I have to show them how I want them to do it not how I do it if you follow me lol.

9 times out of 10 it works................

I have a tendency to exhibit road rage, according to my friends. Not all the time...sometimes I just get angry and let out a barrage of swearing and abuse, much to their delight.

i was thinking about you yesterday.
some members in here,to me, rate quite highly in their attitude and i was thinking you should try autotesting if you want to learn how to be precise.

common misconception#1.
you almost never make real progress.
if you and i were to make a ten mile journey, you caning it and me taking my time, you'd be lucky to get to the destination more than a couple of minutes quicker than me.
but you'd have wasted more fuel, put yourself under more stress as driving fast requires more concentration, put more strain on your vehicle and possibly scared the odd motorist along the way.
and for what? a couple of minutes?
short of boiling an egg for my arrival what was so important that those few minutes needed to be saved?

True, true, the NEED to make progress is most likely when nature calls and in need of paying homage to the porcelain queen. ;)
